Re: Movies of ´09
One thing I didnt understand with Gamer was why the main character was so bad ass. According to them the player had all of the control so it wouldnt really matter if he was an X-military. That was strange to say the least because they angled it in a way that it had all to do with it and not the player.

Re: Movies of ´09
Its probably because the player just gives the commands and Kable had to execute the actual actions accurately, good stamina, accuracy, reaction and movement speed, etc.

Anyone who doesnt think Avatar is one of the best movies evar can suck my dick. I hate you for all eternity and wish terrible things to happen to your family.
Having said that...
Its honestly a really god damn good movie. Visually stunning. I had eye-gasms.
Some people say the storyline is predictable.... I could give a fuck.

Good to hear Avatar doesn't suck. I'm going to watch it with friends next week and am really looking forward to it. The HD trailer looks awesome.
Re: Movies of ´09
The storyline is a bit predictable, however Avatar was still an amazing movie.
Stunning visuals, great acting, and a storyline that although at times predictable, had plenty of twists. Not once during the 2 hours and 42 minutes did I wonder when the movie was going to end, or what time it was. I held my piss in after finishing one of the theaters large drinks for 2 hours so I didn't miss anything.
Watched it in 3D also. Made a huge difference.

Watch the 70 minute video review of Star Wars The Phantom Menace (the guy's voice is a little annoying at first, but bear with it, the review is well thought out and very funny):

Re: Movies of ´09
Just watched Avatar.
Ridiculously predictable plot, insanely detailed sceneries and mindbogglingly intense fights.
In other words, an "ok movie".
It's basically Dances with Wolves in Space. With mechas. And hippies.
And aliens.
And ruthlessly evil corporations.
And psychics.
And reptilian panthers.
And an acute cases of identity crisis.
And what appeared to be the product of a forbidden yet passionate love between a crocodile, a monkey, a cat and a cherokee.
There is, however, one scene near the end of the movie that simply blew my mind. I literally screamed in delight.
It was just.......delicious.
It ended badly, though.

Sherlock Holmes was an enjoyable movie.
I've yet to see Avatar.

Re: Movies of ´09
Sherlock Holmes is an enjoyable movie, but by no means a good one. The plot, I thought was quite... well, bad. You would have thought that with a movie name like 'Sherlock Holmes', there would be an engaging mystery that Holmes has to solve, but it's just so over-the-top and ludicrous. Still, the casts put in fine performances (not stellar or great, but just 'fine'), although sometimes Rachel McAdams comes in and out of the American/British accent that makes me wonder if her character was meant to be British or American. A better script and plotting would have made this film a lot better, and worthy of calling it the definitive Sherlock Holmes movie, much like Casino Royale did for James Bond. It seemed the movie attempts to make Sherlock Holmes 'cool' (whether or not it worked is debatable), rather than actually having a mystery and getting Holmes to unravel it.
Rolos, I thought Avatar was an awesome movie. Barring the 'predictability' (I still need people to explain to me what's so incredibly predictable - I found some scenes which I thought was predictable, but overall the movie was superbly made), I was swept in the entire world that is Pandora. The visual effects were just breath-taking, and while I did feel the movie was a bit long, each scene just seemed necessary; and taking away parts of the movie would do it a great injustice. I thought Iron Man and Dark Knight were contenders for the best movie of the year, but Avatar simply takes the top spot without any doubt in my mind.

up was aight.
wal-e was amazing.
Hangover was pretty darn good.
Inglorious bastards.
and as femto said district 9.
I personally thot public enemies could have been an instant classic if michael mann changed up the camera a bit. maybe throw some more establishing shots in there. his handicam shooting really got irritation during plain dialogue sequences, where as it worked masterfully for almost every other part of the movie.

Saw Avatar, the only fault with is whas that you could predict somewhat what was going to happen next. But I really dont care about that cause it was done in such a perfect and stunning way.

Dude, -Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas-.
If you want to mix a movie with any kind of stupefacient or hallucinogen substance you happen to have, that's the one.
There's another thing I liked about Avatar. You don't have to be an expert in the field to know that was a step by step recreation of every Native-Settler incident ever.
And what was that always happened after the "great native victory over the cruel and greedy invaders"?
RETALIATION.

I enjoyed Sherlock Holmes, but it wasn't sepctacular. I actually enjoyed The Princess and the Frog more because intelligent movies inteded for children have interesting snippets of adult humor hidden within, and that's no different with this one. Plus I love Keith David (voice actor for Spawn in Spawn, Goliath in Gargoyles, live action actor for the priest in Pitch Black plus many others) as the voodoo man. The voodoo man even looks a little like Keith David.

Yeah Fear and loathing is a good movie, try Coraline that one blew me away
What I picked up from the movie was that if the Indians had gathered under one flag they would still own America and kick ass
Does anyone think there will be a second movie?
