Why was tobi even created in the manga if all he did was die? He didn't even use any of his powers.

I doubt he's dead cause as you implied, we still need to see his powers. He probably transformed into a fart or something

So thats who Itachi is afraid of. Now it explains why he has kept Sasuke alive. As for it turning out to be Tobi I guess it makes sense in a freaky way. Though I really don't see how all of a sudden Sasuke is suppose to surpass the prodigy brother. More explaination needs to go into the whole Uchiha clan's purpose.

It is? I wouldn't go as far as to saying that. There are what three people that have it? Kashi really doesn't count as a full sharingan user. Also tobo called himself Madara Uchiha? My guess is he is from the clan and that Itachi knows of him thats why he wanted Sasuke to live on and gain his eyes. So he could test himself against the eyes. Now with that said Itachi never really seemed to be one that was lost in dreams of strength and crap like that. There is more to this story perhaps.

Wow, that was a cool plot-point at the end of the new chapter. Just so we're all clear on this, it turns out that Tobi is actually Uchiha Madara, as he said. If anyone doesn't know, Uchiha Madara is an older member of the Uchiha clan. It's said that he originally had the Byakugan, but he developed it into the Sharingan. Essentially he was the first person to ever develop the Sharingan, from my understanding. Kyubi has met him in the past, and he said that at the time Madara's chakra was more powerful than his own. He also said that Sasuke has achieved that level of power. I can only assume that Madara has grown stronger since then, so he truly is a frightening man, worthy of being the true leader of Akatsuki. Looks like there's a storm coming, I'm looking forward to it.

so in other words it highly likely that he did it since he was at the scene of the crime so to speak. But we really didnt' see him actually kill anyone.... hhmm very interesting.

Not exactly but I think it something like that. It really doesn't add up if he was looking to destroy he would have ended it along time ago. Remember he told him something to the extent of get these same eyes as me and come before me. He wanted to test himself against it. Good guy is a reach I would never say that. He probably did kill everyone but you never know.

Grahf is right, and I've thought that for a long time. It's interesting to see this theory baring some more fruit, because I had pretty much given up on it. I always suspected that it was possible that Itachi didn't kill everyone, but eventually gave up on it because no further evidence to suggest otherwise had surfaced. He claims to have done it, but no one really saw him do it, not even Sasuke. I wouldn't be surprised if it was really Madara who did it, and he's just trying to get Sasuke to hate him so he'll become stronger. Of course, this is only theory, but it's clear that I'm not the only one who's thought about it. As for Sasuke being stronger than Itachi, that's questionable. All I know is that when Sasuke spoke to Kyubi in Naruto's mind, he admitted that Sasuke was as strong as Madara once was, and that was stronger than his own chakra is now. However, I don't know how Itachi's current power compares to what Madara's once was. I'm guessing that Sasuke and Itachi are around they same strength at this point, honestly. If they were to fight right now, I'm not sure who would win. One thing is clear though, both of them are surely weaker than Madara, and at the same time stronger than Kyubi. That's pretty scary, if you think about it.

you mean as Sasuke is about to kill him Naruto jumps in and says that he didn't kill everyone. Then Madara shows up and eggs Sasuke on .......................................................................... Next chapter find out Itachi's fate. Only to actually be followed by cut scene of Tsunade looking onto the Uchiha clans mass grave remembering the actual truth.

In the end I could see this going bad.

But thats just me reaching, also I don't think thats actually Itachi he probably isn't stupid enough to actually fight Sasuke without seeing what he can do first.
