Re: Berserk 312 - Girl of the Roaring Current

Whenever one does something that one personally deems immoral, one will always feel guilty. In other words, among conscious individuals, the existence of conscience seems universal. Sociopaths uniquely find everything to be morally acceptable - maybe even morally good - and are perhaps especially dr...

Re: Berserk 312 - Girl of the Roaring Current

To hold as an absolute moral viewpoint that all moral viewpoints are subjective is self-refuting and a contradiction in terms. Be careful not to confuse an observation - or even a subjective perception - for an "absolute moral viewpoint". An absolute moral viewpoint would be something lik...

Re: Berserk 301 - Confusion

I think we should mark the calendar dates of each chapter release and celebrate them each year as Berserk holidays. We can reminisce about the 6 month wait periods of certain times like the drought of winter 09 for years to come. We can finish the celebrations by sacrificing other manga to appease ...

Re: Berserk 301 - Confusion

You know, there are only two pieces of media, that I know of, which are so kick-ass that they can retain a fan-base during regular, ridiculously lengthy breaks:

Berserk mangas and Tool records.

Re: Berserk 297 - The Blind Giant God

Please, no.... How could there not be a release date for the next chapter... when the most epic battle thus far in the series is left at a climactic cliffhanger??!!

Will we be waiting one month? THREE MONTHS???

Re: Berserk 296 - Thundering Heavens

I'm glad we don't have to wait so long for the next issue...when Berserk gets into these kinds of intense action sequences it is painful for me to read, mostly because I know I'm going to be left hanging for MONTHS on end...lol, the most painful delayed gratification in my manga-reading history... :...

Re: Berserk: 287 - "Bubbles"

And yes, I did give up free beer to edit Berserk. In order to get free beer, I had to wake up at 7 am on the weekends and travel 2 hours to get to that function. But I had to edit that Berserk chapter, which was a pretty MQ raw to begin with and I had an immense dissatisfaction editing it. But oh w...

So for this to hold true, we need to define Good...not everyone will agree with your assertion of what is good, or in this case 'positive' principles. Absolute Good: [Life, Liberty, Truth, Beauty, and Love] The so-called "Positive Principle": Seek & Cherish [Life, Liberty, Truth, Beau...

Where do we draw the line between killing of grass, insects, kitties, and babies like I said above? For evil to be objective, it must hold true for all things. A principle may hold true for all things and yet be upheld in conflicted ways, per my post above. I don't think anyone argues that relative...

::cautiously pokes head out from carefully chosen hiding place:: However, to say that evil is objective is to also say that 'evil is something that actually exists'. Does objectivity only apply to tangible things? There are intangible objective truths, such as: vegetables are more nutritious than Fr...

This is your second warning. Re-quoting yourself adds nothing to the conversation and will be treated as spam. The reason for this is simple, we have already read it. The statement in of itself qualifies on a belief, a leap of faith if you will of what is 'objective principles'. As it stands, that ...

I believe that morality consists of three factors: objective principles, relative situations, and subjective motives. All three have to be simultaneously right for a particular action to be "moral".

Furthermore, cultures - just like individuals - can be wrong. Cultural relativism only exists in opinions, not in what is "right" & "wrong" regardless of culture. And opinions about right and wrong do not solely stem from specific cultures. There was never a culture that tau...

As a practicing Catholic, Berserk has helped in the shaping of my theological understanding and thus shaped the way my faith plays out in my personal life. It may very well be only because I go into the novels as a Catholic that I come out of them with Catholic lessons, I don't know. But the seeming...
