I don´t believe it´s really going to blow up. Besides, i don´t think that they´re going to experiment with huge amounts of the fusion components at one time, so even if it does blow up it won´t take whole Europe with it.
Another question is, if we escape, where should we go?? To USA? Mhhhh... no, I better stay where I am, it should be far away enough!!

The US will lauch intercept missiles from kodiak, 120 mile from were I live, to blow it up. With that it will probably make a new sun out of the earth, all thanks to the French.Necromancer wrote:We will build a big catapult and throw it to the USA before it explodes.
Thank you sir, may I have another

Unlike a fission reaction which just requires fuel to keep going, a fusion reaction requires fuel, heat, and pressure. If the reaction runs out of control, it breaches the containment vessel. When that happens, heat and pressure drop (because it's no longer contained). Beyond a very small amount of residual damage from the heat, there's no risk of any damage.
So, that movie about the cold fusion disaster with Morgan Freeman was bullshit.

Nothing, really it's just the best opportunity to kill many members of this forum.calvin wrote:wouldn't the Arctic be a little more reasonable... what do you have against America?Necromancer wrote:We will build a big catapult and throw it to the USA before it explodes.

Not theory, reality. Z-machine for example, soon as contanment is broken... the reaction shuts down. The sun operates the same way, HUGE amounts of gravity to keep the reaction (heat/energy) near the same area to keep the process moving along. Soon as containment is broken or fuel is used up, there is no more sun.Sandman wrote:The Spiderman 2 movie was also wrong? Seems that if a reaction happend it would keep on happening even with out a contanment field until there was nothing left to react to. But who knows until it happens, until then it is all just thoery.

Internet and Intranet bother me. Mainly because they are completely different, but sound damn near the same when you are speaking. I always try to accent the TRA in intranet as to save confusion. I know it is because it all decends from latin and inter- meaning outside and intra meaning inside, but it bothers me that both words sound so alike. Well that was way of topic.
On topic, Fusion kicks ass.

Don't forget my old favorite --
Dulce et decorum est Pro patria mori
It's from Horace, "It is fitting and nobel to die for one's country."
Of course, it's much better used by Willfred Owen RE: WWI.

Bent double, like old beggars under sacks
Knock-kneed, coughing like hags, we cursed through sludge,
Till on the haunting flares we turned our backs
And towards our distant rest began to trudge.
Men marched asleep. Many had lost their boots
But limped on, blood-shod. All went lame; all blind;
Drunk with fatigue; deaf even to the hoots
Of tired, outstripped Five-Nines that dropped behind.
Gas! GAS! Quick, boys! --- An ecstasy of fumbling,
Fitting the clumsy helmets just in time;
But someone still was yelling out and stumbling
And floundering like a man in fire or lime ---
Dim, through the misty panes and thick green light,
As under a green sea, I saw him drowning.
In all my dreams, before my helpless sight,
He plunges at me, guttering, choking, drowning.
If in some smothering dreams you too could pace
Behind the wagon that we flung him in,
And watch the white eyes writhing in his face,
His hanging face, like a devil's sick of sin;
If you could hear, at every jolt, the blood
Come gargling from the froth-corrupted lungs,
Obscene as cancer, bitter as the cud
Of vile, incurable sores on innocent tongues,---
My friend, you would not tell with such high zest
To children ardent for some desperate glory,
The old Lie: Dulce et decorum est
Pro patria mori.
