Koga and Iga were ninja clans that had been fighting for 400 years. Gennosuke of Koga and Oboro of Iga, loved each other and promised to break down the cursed bond of conversion. However, they were destined to kill each other.
It was Keicho Era 19 (A.D. 1614), 73-year-old Ieyasu was wondering which of the brothers he should choose as a successor, Takechiyo or Kunichiyo. Takechiyo was the elder but he was stupid, while his younger brother Kunichiyo was clever. In order to choose the successor, Ieyasu decided to make Koga and Iga fight against each other. Both clans would choose ten best ninja to fight. If Kouga ninja survive, Kunichiyo would succeed to Shogun. On the hand, Takechiyo would become the next Shogun if Iga ninja win. Because Hattori Hanzo the first made them achieve a truce, they hadn’t had an apparent fight for years. Therefore, when the truce was broken, they went for fights as if they were unleashed hound dogs. The only weapon they use were their own bodies. They had special abilities that men could hardly imagine.
Now that, the battles of twenty ninja including old, young, men, and women began. They made most of their special abilities to fight. During the harsh battles, they were killed one by one. Which would win, Koga or Iga? Who in the world would survive? Then, what would become of the love of Gennosuke and Oboro, who were separated by the battle.

NARUTO + BLEACH doesn't even come close to the BEST MANGA= ONE PIECE
You should be if you didnt read the manga cause this katana group made many fact mistakes, name mistakes that you only know cause you read the manga or have watched a better group.

I've started watching this, too, and I can say it's pretty good so far. And I guess it could even get better, once the story is developed a little further. Right now it seems a bit like Ninja Scroll meets Romeo & Juliet, but I'm open for surprises.
I must say I have one gripe with this show: The episodes are too damn short. And sure the intro is cool, but filling the time with longer eps would have been really cool.
Sorry about the double post, but I'm kinda pissed right now. Not only did I lose all my torrent progress of today due to a crash, also, Basilisk has been dropped by Kraze due to a request from Funimation.
Now I only hope there's some illegal group to continue it or I'll never get it here in Germany.
For anyone still interested in this: It is being subbed by two different groups right now. Check Baka-updates for the details. Unfortunately the torrent for ep.8 from the better group, (Okoi Sugoi) doesn't work anymore.
The show so far hasn't given in to cornyness and is turning into an almost classical tragedy. Visuals continue to be excellent, especially Gennousuke's technique, which is animated really well.
i got myself eps 8 and 9 from arab-dreamers... rather nice quality not to bad with naming mistakes and rather good quality. Still i wish the series would be translated faster cause right now is really irritating with all the waiting for the next episode to be released
nothing to do about that.... all anime have recap eps.... dunno why they bother with them since i usually just skip em.... i mean come on... 9 normal eps and already a recap.. there hardly is an anime difficult enough to be in need of a recap episode...
still the anime has passed the point which has been scanlated atm. I just hope they stay faithfull to the original story... and if that is what they are doing wight now then i definetly want to buy this manga if i get the chance
Well anyhow, I still think (Well rather hope) that the Kouga ninjas will take home the whole thing (Havent read the manga), they seem more sympathetic and humane...
