Pfft don't be haters...Judeau was teh SEX!! Of course he died, but it's HOW he died that counts. Not only was he a well developed character, but he was a reliable one. The harshest part of the eclipse for me, was seeing him die. Why? For the simple reason that he never wavered, he stayed focused on his goal & went so far as to face his own death, w/out hesitation, in order to save his Commander. Whether his reasoning was personal or simply of loyalty, matters little. That in itself, was a testimony to the kind of character he was & I'm sure Guts misses the bastard half as much as I do, hah...er...

That's why many people don't like him. He was too perfect to be real.Starlore wrote:Pfft don't be haters...Judeau was teh SEX!! Of course he died, but it's HOW he died that counts. I prefer Pippin. However, people liked judeau cause he was pretty boy martyr. And who doesnt love them. Judeau = emo!!111!!

Not to argue or anything, but ultimately Judeau was anything BUT perfect. He was very average in looks (boyish, yes...pretty for the most part, no) & tho he was damn good at anything he attempted, he wasn't 'perfect'...Hence his discussion w/Guts about 'not being the best at any one thing, but good at many things' & so he decided to support someone who WAS the best/good at something. If anything, the case is that Judeau was your text book nice guy, that went under appreciated by the girl, thanks to the unreachable, seemingly perfect, popular & pretty, guy. He was easier to relate to for many people, which made him seem more real in this sense.
Griffith on the other hand, was the token 'pretty boy' & in essence the 'unflawed/too perfect to be real' character. He was one of the more difficult to relate to characters(for fans as well as the Hawks) in that he seemed so 'high above' everyone else.
Sure Judeau was a martyr, but it wasn't because he -tried- to be. Instead, he simply earned the title via circumstance.
Just my take on things

Isn't being good at everything better than being best at one thing? "Perfect" is as relativ as many things are.
I just wanted to say something like he was the guy for everything.
And yeah a more developed Pippin would have been nice.

Corkus might have been a asshole but he was a nice guy too.
About Judeau he was far from perfect but he was a very good guy nd the way he died for his commander made me like him 100 times more.
I think if anyone should have survived the eclipse of the dead hawks it should have been him.

I found Judeau to be a very believable character, as my friend Eddie looks, acts and fights very much like him....In fact we were drawing a comic about us as medieval characters; I had knives, a huge sword(more like young guts) and a metal bracer with a crossbow attachment on my left arm, and Eddie looked like Judeau.
Then we found Berserk, and simply dropped our jaws that someone beat us to the punch and delievered it with a combo and a roundhouse... *sigh* I guess its back to the drawing board for us

If you kill one man your a murderer, if you kill a thousand men your a conquerer, and if you kill them all your a GOD!
Judeau was a good guy and this is exactly why his death was effective. It reminded me that life is not always just or not necessarily merit based.
Sacrificing all those hard-working, likeable characters (IMO, Corkus was a likeable bastard, heh) during the eclipse was a good and a shocking move from Miura.
