Shooters (Gradius V, Ikaruga, and the like...)

Post by Ayanami »

Well, no thread on shooters that I can see, so I thought I would start one.

Does any one here play shooters?? If so, which ones and what not. I also thought it might be cool to post high scores if you wish as well.

Main shooters I am playing right now are Gradius V for the PS2, Dodonpachi for the Saturn, and E.S.P. Ra.De.

Here is my high score I am kinda proud of right now.

Gradius V is awesome. Can't remember what my high-score is, but I know I can get to the 4th stage at least without using a continue, to the 3rd stage without losing a life if I play it right. Haven't played it lately though.

I'd kill to play Ikaruga...

That is pretty good Femto, I think I made it to the 6th stage with out using a coninue when I got my high score. At least there is one other man who digs the shooters on here.

Have you ever played Ikaruga??

As I said, I'd kill to play it.

Treasure is just the king of shooters, and Ikaruga has one of the greatest concepts for one.

Treasure is indeed the king of shooters, no frontin'. 8) 8)

Man, I actually have two copies of Ikaruga. I just thought you meant that you might have had it and you sold it or some thing like that, I don't know, ignore my ramblings.

So, does any one else wish to join in this conversation I wonder??

Well you already know I am sub-par at shooters. I started playing Gradius V when I saw this, but stopped out of frustraion, I got about 300,000 and got killed right before the 2nd boss. In fact I got killed by him entering the screen

I like Ikaruga though. Seems interesting how it actually gets harder, not easier, when 2 people play together. You gotta coordinate that Polarity.

Player 1: "Hey, you're supposed to by white!"
Player 2: "No I thought we were gonna be black!"
Player 1: "Shit! Stop shooting guys, you're sending shit my way and I'm still white!"
Player 2: "Wait, oh crap!"
*Both players die*
Players 1 & 2: "This is all your fault!"

Well, even after being on a roll in Gradius (I made some move I never thought possible by humans) I still only got to about 350,000.

Meh. I still take pride in my ability to play Blazing Star and Giga Wing. Although Giga Wing gets pretty intense after a while. I swear, you won't even know where all the bullets fired at you are comign from, nor will you care, you just want to dodge and shield them.

Hmmmm, I don't remember seeing a Geist Force. Perhaps it was shot down before it made it to console. I don't know, I would have to check.

You should be able to get Freelancer in every average video game store or others.

I have heard some good stuff about it, if it is the game I am thinking it is. I will have to swing by my local game store and check it out.

That is if it is still on the shelf.
