I know how you feel, Star Wars really doesn't fit with Soul Calibur at all. But right now I'm thinking, where's Obi Wan?

This game is either going to be the greatest entry in the series, or a miserable failure. There is no third direction.
Couldn´t agree more, they are really going for a "Do or Die" here.

Apparently they are going to include some more Star Wars characters (up to 5) for the their storyline within the game.

Concur with those opinions. Hopefully they'll throw in JarJar as a character so everyone can kill him. Or at least a tutorial mode where hes the dummy.

the Dark Apprentice is going to fucking awesome to use.

He holds his lightsaber upside down.
-check
His weapon of choice is a lightsaber, not a sword.
-check
He has awesome powers of the dark side, i mean force.

Star Wars characters are fine to use in Soul Caliber, they fit the model of the game anyways. Nerd moment coming up: there are certain types of metals that can stop a light saber, so im pretty sure they will just mention that once, just so that it doesnt seem like they would be over powered.

RUMOR: Kratos might appear in SC4. (but dont take my word)

so now does that mean we get pre-godlike powers Kratos, pre-god Kratos, godlike Kratos, or post god with the scar Kratos?

Now that the consoles have hard drives, they could really take advantage of it by allowing you to save your fights and let you replay them from any angle. They could also, hopefully, expand on their character creation option (to make Guts with Siegfried's moves). But I just don't see Namco as wanting to try anything groundbreaking with SCIV, I did hear about tag-team battles, but I've seen that before.

Kratos would be cool, he fits better in that game than Star Wars characters.

if anyone is attending Comic-con, there will be Street Fighter 4 arcade cabinets there, so that pretty much would make going to comic-con even more worth it.

New video of SC4 featuring the Death Star stage and some fighting:

The game looks exactly the same.

I was all for Ivy's boobs and everything but I got the "that's just too much" feeling when I heard about characters clothes being ripped off.

It's like Soul Calibur is just a parody of itself made for sexless Japanese kids.

I'll pass, thank you very much.

Also, Castlevania Judgement looks like ass.

Clothes being ripped off? Where have you read that?

I know that you can destroy armor if your enemy blocks too much, but I didn't think the armor would visually change then?

Sweet ass trailer. But I only saw a girl (Cassandra? Hilde?) lose her helmet and it looked like her cuirass was also busted. Armor isn't clothes. *shrugs*

Christ.

Do I really have to spell it out here?

Obviously, the characters that don't have armor and have fabric-based costumes will have those torn off.

Gametrailers has a bunch of recent gameplay videos.

A few of them have snippets of this feature.

I'm not going to look them up for you again.

Oh noes, ze prude american doesn't want to see virtual nipples?

Anyway why is this such a big problem for you? I can't be arsed to look up those trailer snippets now, because frankly I don't care, and I will believe you that this option is in the game. But why make such a hassle out of it? It's not like SoulCalibur always had some pantie-change cheat, or boobies were bouncing really funny, right? Oh it HAD a panty change cheat you say?

C'mon dude, you watch anime, you should be used to virtual cleavage.

I haven't watched anime in years but thanks for making assumptions about me.

I just can't be arsed to play a game that seems to be made especially for horny, anime stereotype-loving teenagers, especially when it's a franchise that has evolved so little over time.

It's just the ridiculousness of it.

I'll pass.

It's like every day I'm looking forward to fewer and fewer Japanese titles.

Similarly, I don't like my games/anime/mangas to have nudity of sorts for the sake of fan service. If you're going to win me over with your product, then do so by quality. It might be still a good game though, even with the unnecessary addition of tearing clothes off. Perhaps it might not be as bad as the reports say, maybe there might be a practical reason for it.

You know Femto, for someone who is at times pretty much the Über-Troll, you really do take everything that is directed at you dead serious, ne?
I was just fucking with you man.

Anyway, concerning the issue: The Soul series had lots of fanservice from the beginning. C'mon Ivy is pretty much an S&M bitch, Takis Outfit is like a second skin, and all the female fighters are styled to be... sexy.
With the option to smash the girls armor away in the new game, I'd say this only happens when you - tada - smash their armor away in the game. What I mean is: SC4 has Fatalities, or whatever they're called, and you have to smash (a crack into?) the armor of your opponent to execute them. And to smash the armor your enemy has to block your slashes alot, then when the bar is full their armor cracks. At least that's from the information I got.

So I'd say the mail armor of the girl cracking away will only happen when you are about to do a fatality on them... so they won't really be fighting long in that outfit anyway.

Honestly?

I don't care.

I've lost pretty much all interest in this game.

Street Fighter IV still has me intrigued though.

Only because of this issue? Or because of other stuff?
Because if it was the first, that would be quite... narrowminded.
