1: Shin Angyo Onshi
2: Biomega
3: Berserk
(these first three aren't in a clear order, it depends on my mood which one I like the best)
4: Blame! (almost as good as the first three but not quite)
And then is the hard part. These six aren't in any order and sometimes they aren't even near my top ten.
5-10: Bleach
Monster
Gantz
One Piece
Blade of the Immortal
Ares
And like I said, this is just top ten of this time, it might be something else tomorrow.

aa good to see another Ares fan around. Ares is really interesting but KTMS is dropping the ball with that series.

I'll throw this out there even though it's not manga in the strict sense of being from a Japanese mangaka:

#1 Kabuki by David Mack (Beautiful art. Beautiful story. Beautiful women with bloodlust.)

#2 Battle Angel Alita -responsible for my descent into Otakudom.

#3 Welcome to the NHK -the writing on the wall, with visual comedy.

Um... I also like Groo, it's the only comic I can remember having read before college.

C'mon whats up with people not even having read more then 10 mangas? I think Ive read more than 10 books in my life and I hate books(except mangas). Read more mangas people, if you haven't read more than 10 mangas and you've already joined this forum and started posting...Well I know Berserk is awesome, but there is no reason to stop here, there are a lot of other great mangas out there. I mean, when I started reading mangas, it was like a drug, only thing stopping me from reading more was money and when I got the Internet, it was time, and now it's my taste, I just can't go around like before and read some shitty things like naruto.

If you have enough time to post your top 3 mangas in a top 10 manga thread in a Berserk scanlation forum and Berserk is not even in it...WTF... never mind if you didn't read more than 10 mangas, I don't think you should be posting here, but reading mangas since there are so many great ones out there and life is short!

Hehe... I like your passion. I've probably read 30 or so different manga titles... I have a couple bookshelves of the manga I used to collect from the local used book shop, and what I've picked up on my trips to Japan. I even took a frickin art class in college that ruined my GPA because I was so enamored of the Japanese artform. Having said that, I prefer anime and rarely collect the entire series of a manga. I had only listed the manga that have a special meaning to me, that have in some form twisted my heart strings and left an emotional footprint on my life.

I came to EG because of Welcome to the NHK so I am only now being exposed to the Berserk manga. But because Finito commands it... 7 more good manga!

Phantasy Degree... Korean, but still awesome
Ranma
Berserk
Saber Marionette
Yaiba
Naruto
Kiki's delivery service

Just cause its black and white doesnt make it a manga ;)

Kabuki is an american comic in style, there are many comic with the same style in art and color.

You've read Kabuki, which means you're awesome!!
Back in 2000 there was nothing like Kabuki in American comics... not even Frank Miller. The expansive use of watercolor and imaginative text placement to capture Kabuki's inner torment took my breath away. I stopped reading American comics in 2001 when I left the city (even Kabuki, sigh...) so I have no idea how it may or may not be similar to comics now.

It would be so great to see it as a movie... there had been talks for years but I doubt it will ever happen.

In terms of Kabuki expanding the artform in it's beauty and depth, I read a lot of web comics and I think Dresdan Codak comes close-- although a little over the top in its intellectual musings.

http://dresdencodak.com/cartoons/dc_031.htm (one panel before the current story arc)

Copper is slightly more traditional in it's adherence to panels, but so pretty

http://www.boltcity.com/copper/

And since I'm throwing out webcomics, and there isn't a webcomic thread (although perhaps there ought to be), I'll throw out my current fave... Starslip Crisis!!!

Null has put in major work. I've always liked Black God, but I must say I like it more now. Very basic story of younger sibling looking for older sibling, Child looking for his mother persay and of course my personal favorite the childhood friend love interest. Throw Doppel liners, Tripple Liners, Contracts, Equilibrium laws and killer lollies :? = in my top ten.

I have seen too many americans thinking they can draw what they think is manga style comic but Mack's Kabuki is the only good version i have seen along with Sam Noir: Samurai Detective. Which is very similer to Kabuki in style. Gotta read more of both. I love dark ,moody art. David Mack i had read before in his short Daredevil run which he impressed me enough to try Kabuki. You made me remember i wanted a trade of it.

OK, I spent all of today reading up to volume 8 in Eden and MPD psycho /cause they came highly recommended on this site.
F#ck if I have any idea what the hell is going on. It seems so completely random, I am done with those manga. I guess I was spoiled by Berserk. I can"t deal with manga that don't have a consistent story line. What the F#ck is up with those manga!!! I just wish wikipedia had a plot line so I could figure out what I supposedly read. Jessos.

Mhm

01.Gunnm (Battle Angel Alita) + Gunnm - Last Order
02.Gantz
03.Berserk
04.Biomega
05.Naruto
06.Claymore
07.Blame!
08.Bleach
09.Eden - It's an endless world
10.Noise!
Places from 1 to 3 were hard to choose. Over the time on title was better than other but in the end Alita is on the first place though LO is not so good as first BAA. Gantz mhm one year ago i was shocked after i read almost whole 1st phase in only 3 days but when Kurono dies i can't focus on any other character so it lose to BAA.
Berserk mhm great almost on every aspect but i really want to see the end of the story in my lifetime^^
