That is nice to be #2 since I thought Berserk isn't that popular, anymore, in Japan. I just hope that Berserk in US sell better. For some odd reason Berserk suddenly disappear from DH best seller list. Vol.5 and 6 is not on there at all. :*(

Berserk sales in japan are much higher then USA and it will never be the same no matter what, cause ppl actually buy the manga there instead of downloading it from the internet.I am pretty sure not even 1/3 of the berserk fans on this site owns a DH's vols.

I didn't buy my copies of Berserk, relatives send them to me from overseas. They'll not DH published though.

I buy mangas too, but the only ones I get are Crayon Shin, Angel Heart, and One Piece that are in volumes. I usually buy Jump-like magazines, which have like a dozen different mangas in chapters.

Yes it's sad US will never have sales like Japan.

Agreed. It's better to have books and comics on hard copies, then to have them on the comp.

I had a ignorant neighbour who came to visit me while I was reading the latest Zetman on the comp. He came in to my room, and shouted 'are you looking at Hentai' while my family members were just outside the room. And the moral of that story is...WTF?!

But seriously. People should buy it to avoid 'awkward' situations like these. Use the comp and internet for porn, like it was originally designed for.

I own every volume of the manga released so far and I plan on getting all subsequent releases. Should I be proud of myself?

I think there's a difference between leechers that download dozens of mangas and TV series without buying the real products, and people that download something like Berserk, because they just can't wait for the official stuff to be released in their respective countries. I stopped downloading stuff a while ago and I try to buy everything I see/read. Berserk is the only thing I leech, just because the wait would kill me. Even though I now see a fraction of what I used to, I kinda cherish it more, and it's not just a matter of "getting the next thing."

It also makes me feel all good inside. :D

I usually download it first, buy it later, and delete it from my HD. Then the books are arranged on the shelf for storage purposes. But I don't read it as regularly as I would if it was on the comp though.

I actually do read whatever volumes I buy. Of course, Berserk is the only thing I really get from the web and the Dark Horse volumes are way earlier than what is going on right now, so it's still kind of a fresh read. I'm waiting for them to get out of the TV series part though, I know that by heart.

Here's an interesting fact I may or may not have mentioned before. I think I read somewhere that DVD sales for popular series have risen while, sales for the crappier ones have dropped. The reason why this happens, is because people download all this stuff from the web and what they like they buy, the rest they ignore. The problem isn't only that they see this stuff without paying at all, but it could get a little disencouraging for publishers to release low profile titles, when there is less chance for profit. And we know that not all low profile titles are bad, some could be cult stuff or something like that. Anyway, it's I found interesting.

What pisses me off about buying volumes is the TINY format they are published in. You can't see all the details. Even my screen is too small to display all the details, but the volumes are even smaller. Sucks majorly.

What i hate more than scanlation is that you cant buy your fav manga cause it takes time before its licensed.

I buy Berserk books havent read them yet cause im waiting till i forget little more about what happened in the begining of the manga.

Here in Holland it is not easy to buy manga.
There are very few persons who read it.
I had to search for weeks to find a shop that sells Berserk...

:P Fortunately in france, a new publisher : Glenat bought the rights from Dynamics (who did 2 berserk vol. with horrible translation ) and we've got Vol6 til now.
They're planning on selling a vol per month.
And after vol8, it will be every 2months. It could be worse

Things are better nowadays cause now we can order most mangas that are licensed by DH,Viz,TP etc which we couldnt a couple of years ago here.

I ordered Vagabond 14-17,Priest 4-7 a while ago hope it doesnt take months and luckiely the dollar gets weeker for every day and so the more mangas i can buy :)

Buy Berserk!

Post by mst3000 »
Well i am trying to say is those who can buy it, should buy it.
I agree. Way back in the day, before Berserk scanlations came out (or at least before I could find them), I would buy the Japanese volumes, just to get more Berserk, even if I couldn't really read them (I could read a little of the hiragana, because I took a semester of Japanese). Even after I read all of the scanlations, I'm still buying the DH manga, even though it is a lot more expensive than your average manga.

I saw Berserk originally as a fansub, but I still bought the American box set. I try to buy as much Berserk as I can. If Berserk is popular and profitable enough in America, they might animate more of it. Wasn't it American demand that got the second season of Big O animated?
