Hi Iori. So can you read both Chinese and Japanese proficiently enough to translate it into English? And to answer your questions:Iori wrote:Hi, I'm interested in the translator position Chinese<->Japanese<-> English.

1) How the process works is we send you a chapter of a manga, and you translate it.
2) I don't quite get your meaning, what do you mean by that?
3) It's non pay position and voluntary basis.
4) No major specific requirements, just be able to read Chinese or Japanese proficiently and have some English skills in order for translation needs.

With all do respect you're the last person I'd have for an editor.fujinsan wrote:If your still looking for editor's I'll take a crack at it I guess. Do you send me a raw through pm or something?
Let's put a smile on that face...............
Re: EG Staff Applications: Translators and Editors
Clarification of terms...
We use the word editor more loosely than it's real world definition.
It involves cleaning the raw, proof-reading the text, and being able to properly place the text on the pages to create the final product.
Photoshop/Gimp image manipulation
Good grasp of the English language, grammar & spelling
Eye for layout & atmosphere when it comes to typography (inserting text).
It takes a lot of time and effort... takes me hours when I was working on NHK and even then my work was crap in comparison to the rest of EG.
Not for weak-willed, that is for sure.

Just finished Berserk 297, and I felt like supporting your team.
Chinese --> English
In terms of fluency, I can read Chinese novels, history books, news papers, and philosophical works written in simplified or traditional.

Hey, if you can read philosophy then you can read just about anything right? That stuff gets pretty hardcore

Hello. I've never done editing before but I'm willing to give it a try. I wish I could translate, since it seems to be a more needed skill here.
Re: EG Staff Applications: Translators and Editors
Hey, thanks for offering to help. But we need experienced editors, unfortunately (I can't spare the time to train or help). I really appreciate your offer though.DrPepperPro wrote:Hello. ya but it's low scale work compared to doing a whole chapter of a manga I guess.fujinsan wrote: Didn't you do your avatar and sig? Sorry for posting in this if it wasn't needed.
And about your wallpaper: I will finish it when I get home in a couple of days. (laptop can't do photoshop too good)

Re: EG Staff Applications: Translators and Editors
Wondering if you still need any Chinese <-> English translators.
Re: EG Staff Applications: Translators and Editors
Hi vehryn. We always need translators! You should PM Eldo as he's the boss and can set you up with some stuff to work on. Is there anything in particular that you wanted to translate?
Re: EG Staff Applications: Translators and Editors
Hello,
I am from Holland, stuying Japanese for a couple of years now, studied lived and worked in Japan too. I can read, write and translate.
I read Berserk when I lived in Japan without much difficulties but I am afraid my English is not on the same level as a native English speaker. I love manga and wouldnt mind to do translations from Japanese to English, but Ill guess you have to have somebody look at the English I translated before putting it online :p..
Anyway, please leave me a message if you guys are interested

Re: EG Staff Applications: Translators and Editors
hi fellaz, I'm cagdas from turkey
I'm dealing with japanese for about 2 years. My japanese level can be considered somewhere between 3kyuu and 2kyuu, and still taking courses. or roughly, intermediate level.
If you're in need of japanese>english translator, i'll give it a try.
If i will be eligible for your requisites, i can do translation for any series. It doesn't matter which one it will be.
good luck on this project.

Re: EG Staff Applications: Translators and Editors
So you're still looking for someone to edit Angel Heart?
I have no experience whatsoever but I can try. I have no good raw for 17, and I need your previous used fonts details for Kaori's toughts and SFX (I do have Wildwords). Just let me try and see if you like it.
