Avast is a free one, they only ask you to register and they don't send any spam or anything.

Seconded.

Also, Spybot.

I actually prefer spyware doctor.
Anyway, Buzkashi did the "shifty eyes" thing. That's like saying "I don't care where do you get it from as long as it works", right?
For that kind of situation, I usually recommend this site: http://www.phazeddl.com/

Nod32 for real its just the best in my opinion, try it.
Just dl it here

I have 3 brothers and they do get my comp infected, and by experience with the other anti-virus, Nod32 FTW.

If you computer gets infected while the antivirus software is active, that's not really a good sign for that particular antivirus software then.

Buz, is your computer currently infected with a spyware/virus? If so, what particular one is it?

I'm using MalwareByte's Anti-Malware, and it caught some stuff that Spybot and Adaware missed.

It doesn't anymore that's why Nod32 is the best in my opinion, compared to others I've used. Avira is crap for realzors.

Woah! WTF?

Dude, what are you doing? I've had this Mac for 3 and half years without even turning on the firewall and nothing has happened. My old iMac which I had for almost 6 years had zero problems with viruses or spyware. You're just wasting your time by installing such programs on a Mac.

There's like 40 total (I'm exaggerating, but the true number is not that far off). It's some ridiculously low amount, that's for sure. Yeah, Macs are probably not as secure as Windows computers, but they are safer.

I swear to god, of nearly 10 years of using a Mac and of all the people I know that have even used a Mac, you would be the first person to have told me the Mac they used had spyware/viruses; if it indeed turns out to be true, which I really, really, really doubt.
