Natsuki Crisis

Post by gordom »

I've just finished reading B.Reaction, and I'm impressed. It's a fun manga with great art and the guys here at Evil_Genius did a nice job translating it. But, unfortunately, it was cancelled very early in its run so there's not much of it to go around.

But the mangaka, Hirohisa Tsuruta, did do another notable project. The manga "Natsuki Crisis" ran for 18 volumes, which sounds like a big deal to me. It doesn't seem to have a translation anywhere, freely available or professionally, apart from a version of the first chapter by "yakuza" that you can find floating around. It looks like all the raws are available though, under Natsuki Crisis on this list for raw-manga.blogspot.com: http://rapidshare.com/users/GWPECB/

Here's a couple of pages of talking and so on from volume 18 to give you a feel for this fighting manga:

The mangaka worked as an assistant on Kimagure Orange Road, and that influence on character design looks much more visible here than in the later title B.Reaction. There's also a considerable evolution of style throughout the series, not surprising for a first big project. Here's the first story page from volume 1:

I can't read Japanese so I can't directly comment on plot or anything like that, here's a summary I'm about to find on Google:
Natsuki Kisumi is a high school martial artist. She loves sports and she's top in her club. One day a transfer student, Takaoka Rina, comes and she seems to be a strong wrestler, so Kisumi is excited to be friends with her. But it seems a comittee is after her for leaving.
I don't know any Japanese, and I don't really like going through comics i can't read. But is there anyone here who's read this manga? Do you think there would be any interest in translating it?
