I saw District 9.

The movie is kinda slow at first as it tries to establish what life has become after the aliens' arrival but it picks up in the second half and the 3rd act is just amazing.

Well worth watching if only for the fresh stuff it brings to the table.

Like putting HL2 Gravity Gun hijinks into an action sequence.

The movie was a touch on the long side, but very enjoyable. I am very glad this is what we got instead of a Halo movie.

Yeah, I liked it too.
What I found really interesting is how they totally deconstructed the classical "sufficiently advanced aliens" stereotype.
Having (possesing?) advanced Technology means just that, that you have tools that are more advanced, not that you are some kind of enlightened "superior" being.
And the bit about the government totally losing control of the whole "settlement/landing" operation was just pure gold. THAT is how the world works.

District 9 might not be fresh stuff if you have read many SF books of similar type like me but i was waiting for what people who saw it says about the quality.

Its understandle to not expect too much with hollywood history with SF films of the serious type.

Im waiting for Moon too, hopefully it will come out in the theatre.

Moon was pretty terrible.

I suggest that you skip it altogether.

It's Gerard Butler & Michael C. Hall... but I... can't share that opinion.

i like the kid who is 'playing' gerard butler's character.

'9' on the other hand looks cool, like a demonic version of Toy Story.

I saw Inglourious Basterds.

It was good.

It's needlessly long and it had way too much dialogue.

Tarantino needs to stop self-indulging himself.

Blasphemy.

I felt like the only thing wrong with inglorious was a few potholes in the plot here and there.

I heard Eli Roth directed the nations pride movie they were playing in the theatre, during the movie.

'Gamer' was interesting, kinda like a bad Michael Bay version of 'A Clockwork Orange'. Of course the 'macguffin' was different, but the fast and slow motion and costumes were similar. I recommend it, but not as an action movie, but as a wierd psychological thriller.

9.

I'm kinda, sorta mixed about it.

I believe I feel the same way about 9 as I do about Nightmare Before Christmas, i.e. it's a movie set in world unlike any other with interesting, likeable characters and a unique design sensibility but it's the story that ultimately hurts the whole.

In spite of that, Nightmare Before Christmas is one of my favorite movies ever and I think, in time, 9 could sit nicely alongside it.

You should all go watch it though.

It's worth it.

Ponyo, Miyazaki's newest, was worth the $8 I paid for the ticket, but I wasn't as enthralled as I would have been were I 10. I'd like to watch it high, maybe that'd make a difference.

BTW it's like a funny, cutsy, Japanese version of the Little Mermaid.

Yeah, it has a very simple story, but it's nice. Worth seeing if you're in the mood for it.

I knew it was going to be a kid's movie, but I thought it was going to be like Spirited Away, for kids with adult parts. Well, I liked the mom, she had guts, and was a crazy driver. Too funny for me because I saw it right before taking my driving test.

I just saw Zombieland. It was amazing.
Bill Murray's cameo pushed that movie from "Down right good" to "Fan-fucking-tastic"
Zombieland was awesome. I loved Woody Harrelson's character, but Woody Harrelson just tends to be awesome anyways.

I'm looking forward to Legion and 2012 because they look horrible.

Pelham 123 was pretty bad, remove DW and JT and the movie is a total failure for me.

I liked Zombieland, was funny and entertaining, I like movies that don't take themselves seriously.

Crows Zero 2 was ok, it still needs more badass characters, I mean they are Japanese and they do look like wimps(and retards for some).

Surrogates was really boring, more of a sci-fi drama than an action movie. I thought the movie was slow and simple, nothing new to me.

I was really looking forward to Zombieland, and don't get me wrong, it delivered what I pretty much expected it to deliver, but it wasn't surprising in anyway.

The trailers gave away about three-quarters of the best scenes, and there were absolutely no twists and turns to the movie.

And is it just me, or does Jesse Eisenberg play the same damn character in every movie he's in?

I've stopped expecting too much of movies I watch, and I think its working, I do enjoy movies more than before. I also, most of the time, don't watch any trailer anymore.

This Jesse was a first for me, so I couldn't say, but what do you expect from someone like him.

Public Enemies was pretty boring, I thought the action sequences were horrible and so was the ending, too much build up and nothing happening. For a plot that's been used in many movies, I don't think they did a good job executing it or bringing something new. Again I think it relied too much on the 2 main actors.
