If you're gonna talk about an impressive feat, you could at least show a picture.

The reason why the superman dunk was better than the backboard dunk was the hype and atmosphere Dwight had built up to do the dunk, and did you see the way he THREW the ball into the ring! That was sick

Many people are whining that the Superman Dunk should not have qualified as "dunk" based on the premise that he never touched the rim. Believe it or not this has actually become a hot topic on message boards in the sports world. Which I find sad because whether or not the Superman Dunk by "definition" was a dunk or not, takes nothing away from the feat or act in itself.

First of all even without that dunk qualifying, Dwight Howard would have won going away with any one of his other dunks (arguably equally impressive as the Superman dunk).

Second, IF throwing a ball downward through the rim isn't a dunk, than what the hell is it then? It can't be a lay-up, where by definition, throwing a ball thru the rim would be the opposite of one. The problem is that the act of throwing a ball cleanly thru the basket is unprecedented considering no one being capable of doing it, at least until last night.

I think you answered your own question, he had to have touched the rim for it to be considered a legitimate dunk. But in my opinion, the downward motion qualifies it as a dunk. And I agree, it's very impressive nonetheless.

I've seen him practice it and in his practice videos, he actually dunked it. I think he ended up short of where he planned to be and improvised the throw and got lucky. I think that actually made it better than just a "plain old" dunk.

Superman Dunk was great but the behind the basket windmill was the best.

Its good of Howard to show that the big men can also dunk great, creative dunks.
