::Vinland Saga::
I think you all should give this manga a try, if you love berserk , Vinland Saga is probably going to attract you. Like in the Golden Age arc it follows a mercenary band traveling around seeking for battles, however this time its a band of Vikings (Vikings are badass ). The story's young main character, Thorfinn, joined the band to take revenge on the leader for killing his father Thor. Thorfinn posses great skill like his father and he is entrusted the most dangerous tasks in exchange for duels. But this is not the only resemblance, they are quite similar artwise, Vinland Saga is however less sketchy and doesn't got that much details.

Re: ::Vinland Saga::
Thanks for recommending this, I like it a lot, very likable characters, though strangely (for now) the main character "clicks" the least for me... but we'll see
Gaddamnit I want a new chapter

Re: ::Vinland Saga::
Yeah i agree, he is strong... but he isn't really that "badass" with his dagger ("badass" is the "click" for me ). Maybe he will gradually buff up , or something like a timeskip... however i like it anyway so it doesn't really matter that muchddem1 wrote:Thanks for recommending this, I like it a lot, very likable characters, though strangely (for now) the main character "clicks" the least for me... but we'll see

Re: ::Vinland Saga::
Firstly, i was attracted to Vinland Saga by its artwork. I keep reading its lastest chapter now but i found out that the mangaka had failed to describe the 180 degrees change of the prince Canute, not much impression. Perhaps, i was so addicted to Berserk but i'm pretty sure Miura described the dramatic change in mood/spirit/ feelings way better !!!
Re: ::Vinland Saga::
Canute suck, go crazy barbarians, fight more!
Re: ::Vinland Saga::
This is a great series. My avitar is actually a scaled down picture I colored of Thorfinn.
Re: ::Vinland Saga::
Yeah, this manga is badass. I recently read up to chapter 41, I guess that's all that's out now. Anyway, I was pretty impressed with this series. Can't wait to see more.

Re: ::Vinland Saga::
The series is pretty cool. In addition to the fighting, I really liked the priest's view on love.
Trust me, I'm a doctor!
Re: ::Vinland Saga::
I've read everything that's been released so far and I'm not really impressed.
On a side note, I got these two stories off www.badassoftheweek.com
The Viking at Stamford Bridge
Wolf the Quarrelsome
"Wolf the Quarrelsome cut open Brodir's belly, and led him round and round the trunk of a tree, and so wound all his entrails out of him, and he did not die before they were all drawn out of him. Brodir's warriors were slain to a man."
These guys are the real deal, truly bad ass. Norse mythology is pretty ba,too.

Re: ::Vinland Saga::
Anyone still following this manga? Not to necro or anything.
Steeples scrape the sky, Praising God.
Everything here exists for God, is sacrificed to God.
For those who have nothing to sacrifice,
It can be a very heartless city indeed.

Re: ::Vinland Saga::
The reason is because of what the drunk priest said to him. It is kinda vague, but basically he realized that God doesn't do shit so he has to do it himself.hisoka9000 wrote:Firstly, i was attracted to Vinland Saga by its artwork. But yes Berserk is much better.
Re: ::Vinland Saga::
Uh, he did explain why Canute had a change of heart. It was clear to me anyway.
Re: ::Vinland Saga::
The funny thing is, Canute's deep belief in the existence of an ever-watching, loving god led him to hate that very same god for it's inaction.
He now cares for the world as a whole, not for individuals. That makes him very similar to the god he hates. The one difference is that , in defiance to what he now thinks is the will of the heavens, he intends to create a heaven out of earth with him as its center and arquitect. As it's, well, god.
That's an altruistic god complex. Truly unique.

Re: ::Vinland Saga::
Wow chapter 52 was great!
Re: ::Vinland Saga::
I gotta say this one is pretty dope. THanks for the heads up
Re: ::Vinland Saga::
Really excited when 52 finally came out. Really enjoyed the latest chapter.
To think it'd resort to Askelaad taking those kind of steps. I'm sure Thorfinn will have an easy time deciding who to keep his allegiance with. Makes you wonder what Askelaad will do if he makes it out of this situation though. Suddenly changes pace to Wales holding off the Norse with Askelaad at the head?
Re: ::Vinland Saga::
No that was 52. 53 just came out a day or so ago. Though Mediafire messes up like 90% of the time when I try to DL newly added files from Hox or others, so I have to wait for it to go up on mangatraders. Anyone else have this problem?
Re: ::Vinland Saga::
I have the problem through Firefox for some reason. I have to load the mediafire page through Opera.
But yeah, absolutely amazing chapter. I enjoy this series more every time there's a release.
