I like "My Chemical Romance" because they said "they make me do pushups in drag". God I love that line.

Emo sucks, but half those bands are not emo. I have hung out with Quinn from The Used a couple of times, those guys are all from Utah.

Muse kicks ass, I have seen them live twice and I love them. Not sure how to classify them, they have a different sound. They are really popular in England and most of Europe.

I think the only band that I listen to that is remotely Emo is Coheed and Cambria. I'm not a big fan of tight pants and stick boys ><

Nooo, Killswitch Engage is all out metal. The day a band as heavy as Killswitch Engage is labeled as alt. rock by the masses is the day I start killing a whole lot of people.

this group is for anyone who listens to real emo or screamo. ever since mtv and spin magazine completely distorted emo to mean sappy and whiny indie rock, kids who listen to emo have been getting a bad rap. well, if you wanna do something about it or learn more about what emo and screamo really is, then join this group and bring death to false emo.

here are some of the best examples of emo and screamo.

emo - rites of spring, moss icon, indian summer, hated, native nod, hoover, current, evergreen, navio forge, still life, shotmaker, policy of three, clikatat ikatowi, maximillian colby, sleepytime trio, ordination of aaron, four hundred years, universal order of armageddon, frail, lincoln, julia, constatine sankathi, spirit assembly

screamo - jeromes dream, heroin, antioch arrow, pg.99, saetia, orchid, reach out, honeywell, city of caterpillar, circle takes the square, mohinder, portraits of past, angel hair, swing kids, palatka, hot cross, anasarca, envy, spirit of versailles, funeral diner, hassan i sabbah, usurp synapse, joshua fit for battle, one eyed god phophesy, neil perry, reversal of man, yaphet kotto

common misconceptions of emo - dashboard confessional, getup kids, sunny day real estate, mineral, braid, promise ring, belle and sebastian, bright eyes, any sappy indie rock that you've heard called "emo"

common misconceptions of screamo - thursday, the used, my chemical romance, hawthorne heights, taking back sunday, coheed and cambria, from autumn to ashes, brand new, alexisonfire, any other pop punk or radio band with one scream in the backround of one song that people call "screamo"

disclaimer: we are not saying that these bands are bad (necessarily...), just that they are not emo nor screamo.

here's a good site that explains the musical dynamics of each stage of emo more clearly: http://www.fourfa.com

From Autumn to ashes is pretty damn hard. They have plenty of screaming... Never really thought of them as a pop band really. Never see them on T.V. or hear them on the radio. Only time I ever saw FATA was on Headbanger's Ball.

i havent heard them, but there is usually a decent amount of hostility against mainstreamed music in certain underground areas, especially the closer you get towards punk atleast. greenday got a lot of hate from their origins when they hit it big.
