Silly boy.........

The entire point of the movie was to showcase the reasons for Bond becoming jaded and apathetic toward women.

After being burnt like he did, surely he won't let his guard down again as far as falling in love or giving a shit about some broad, no matter how hot they are.

The recent Bond movies are clearly going for a more gritty realistic approach that show him to be a person with faults, and his evolution into the character we have known him to be. Definitely similarities in approach with how Nolan redefined Batman, by focusing on his humanity and own imperfections in re-starting/ -defining the franchise.

Thats cool. But it doesn't change a thing. The movie was still wack as hell.

Says you......This coming from someone who didn't like it because it didn't have enough gadgets?

The movie was a very good ride IMO, and people should see it for themselves before drawing their conclusions.

Yea thats right. What is james bond without girls and gadgets?

I wouldn't want to watch a star wars movie without the force and lightsabers either.

Personally, I thought the gadgets were stupid. A few little gadgets are cool, but an invisible car? Come on. I disliked all the Bond movies between Goldeneye and Casino Royale.

I agree 100% with you. I've always thought the gadgets were a little silly, as time went by. A gun in a lighter was cool and inventive many years ago, but they were stretching it a bit with the technology like the invisible car. I was half expecting a rocket launcher coming out of his shoe. Casino Royale was a great example of what a great spy movie should be. The previous movies were all about Bond looking cool, but contributed nothing to the spy genre at all. I used to watch James Bond movies for the Bond girls, but it's so hard to watch the entire movie when the story is incredibly bland and outrageously over the top. There was a time when I would have told you that Bourne would kick Bond's pretty arse. After Casino Royale, I'd have to disagree. Bond isn't all about 'girls and gadgets'. That's why the previous movies sucked so hard and was lauded by the critics. Casino Royale basically reinvented Bond.

I haven't watched Quantum of Solace yet because it's not out in Australia. I'm hoping to catch it as soon as it hits the screens, or probably not if I got to work.

If they made a Star Wars movie a war film about the Republic versus the Empire, I guess it could work that way. But then again, Star Wars was never that interesting without the Force and lightsabers. Based on the latest Star Wars films, I'd say the audience are already tired of the Force and lightsabers but are going to watch it anyway out of loyalty and reminiscing their childhood.

It's thinking like that that brought us the prequels.

I pretty much agree with Eldo. I liked Casino Royal. Looking forward to Quantum of Solace.

Snake could take both Bourne and Bond at the same time though. :P

Yeah, he could take Batman, but not if Batman had the help of both Bond and Bourne. ;)

I watched the new Indiana Jones movie earlier. It wasn't that bad. It wasn't that good either though. I mean it wasn't as bad as everyone made it out to be, but it wasn't much better really. The special effects were cool, but there was lots of inappropriate stuff for an Indiana Jones movie (aliens?), and some of it was just too over the top and implausible.

Heh, I don't really think it was that bad, but I can see why some would say that. That episode of South Park was pretty damn funny though.

Some people have voiced that they didn't get the part with the refrigerator. It made since, but the way he was thrown through the air like that and then the impact of the landing would have easily have killed him. >.>

Anyone saw the upcoming Star Trek previews from JJ Abrams ? Sylar from Heroes as Spock ! I quite like the casting except for Kirk. I don't know the actor who's gonna play him so I'm waiting to see the movie before any judgment on him.

I watched heroes season 1 (yeah I'm late. really late) I tought it was nothing new but good story telling... ending a bit un-spectacular though. I tought the whole time about
''why doesn't he just fly away to not explode in the city?'' and in the end that's what he did.
I finally watched it and I agree completely with you. It was an OK film, but not a quality one. Casino Royale was quantum leaps better than Solace (excuse the non-nonsensical pun). I guess the director wasn't good enough, in my opinion, and the fights were not clear enough to be shown on screen (reason being that they had the guy from Bourne for the 2nd unit director and action scenes, the whole shaky camera and flashing everywhere was really confusing). I was a bit confused and put off by what happened on in the first chasing scene. And also, I didn't get the point about why the hell the scene with Bond chasing the rogue agent, there would be shots of the horses racing. I don't give a shit. Also, holding water hostage isn't as bad as the villain in the first one. At the end, I feel I didn't get my money's worth. This James Bond felt like the James Bonds of the previous era, and didn't follow the groundwork set by Casino Royale. I was disappointed.

Really, I liked Quantum of Solace, but I guess I'm weird like that. Though considering the stuff you said Eldo, you do make some good points. I hate that shaky camera routine. I want to see the fight scenes clearly damn it! It's just like in 28 Weeks Later, all that camera shaking doesn't help. It doesn't draw me in or make it any more realistic, quite the opposite really. I guess I'll have to re-evaluate my opinion on Quantum of Solace, but either way, I still liked it. Maybe just not as much now. *shrugs*

Also, I've never been a big Star Trek fan, but that trailer looked really promising to me, and I'm a fan of Abrams' work. So I'm looking forward to seeing the new Star Trek movie. Also, Zachary Quinto as Spock, now that's awesome casting right there. I wonder if it had anything to do with how cold and emotionless Sylar used to be. That would be my guess, type casting anyone? :P

Taken actually came out earlier this year in most parts of the world.

Although I don't advocate it, it's certainly not hard to find elsewhere before it even comes out here in North America.

I just did, and I agree, pretty intense.
