For a while capcom had a countdown running on their site. Well it finally finished, and yes, you can put the rumors to rest. One of the greatest, if not the greatest, fighting game franchises is finally getting a true sequel. Street fighter II almost singlehandedly fostered the fighting game genre into what it is today. Now, if the embedded coding works... the teaser for Street Fighter IV!

I don't know how reliable snk-capcom.com is but they are predicting high-def 2d in a 16:9 widescreen ratio.

Yes, the trailer is a CGI 3-D intro, but there's no need to panic, at least from our source which tells us the game will be in 2-D with spruced up graphics that will put SFIII3S to shame. If Capcom decides to follow through on their arcade release, expect to see it on Taito's Type X2, which is also supported by SNK Playmore. SF IV will be presented with HD graphics in a 16:9 frame ratio. Further details and footage will likely be shown at the AOU Show in Japan in February 2008.

My suggestions:
Graphics: widescreen 1080p sprites. LARGE sprites, with animations so fluid they would put many an anime to shame.

Gameplay: Of course keep the balance of the game how it is. I seriously doubt Capcom can fuck this up. Though I would love some team battles, I'm not exactly sure, but I think on the Saturn alpha 3 where you had Ken and Ryu fighting Bison. Those kinds of matches would be sweet. Fatalities! Haha sike I'm just kidding.

I don't care if it's 3D or 2D. As long as Capcom doesn't mess this up in terms of gameplay, and make the clothing and fight animations uber I'll buy it either way.

the animation stile really reminds me of okami for some reason (if you like rpg's and you don't know the game you should get it) okami was a capcom game so it would be easy to use the same graphics and feel of okami, even if the morons disbanded clover (godhand anybody?) I'm just not sure how well the feel and look of okami will transfer to a fighting game, and I hope they keep all the old characters, I loved the sumo rustler, and the Indian guy, and the green beast, and Vega, and well everyone basically.

Beam 'em up? You mean Beat 'em Up? Fighting games and Beat 'em Up's are actually too different things. Beat 'em Up's refer to old school action games where you just beat people up, like Double Dragon, one of the classics. I've been a huge fan of the Street Fighter series for a long time, and seeing that this game is 2D, makes me very happy. Plus, look at the detail of that art, now that's what next gen 2D is all about.
