Re: What lies in your console as we speak?
I rented a XBox 360 this weekend, sadly without Halo 3. But with Blue Dragon (nah, nice but too much of an old school fighting system), GRAW2 (nice teamshooter, but lied on the dvd case with "play it in coop" - which only meant play coop with stupid bots in multiplayer maps, not coop with a friend in the campagne) and my favourite:
The Darkness. Really stylsh and intense shooter. And really nice story. The scene with Jenny in her apartment, where you could sit with her on the couch, watch tv, and even kiss her, was very sweet. Bitter-sweet because I kinda knew what was coming in a game about the darkness where the protagonist has a nice girlfriend.
And the scene where they shoot Jenny was really fucked up. You couldn't do anything because the darkness didn't let you, and that fucking Paulie guy even shot her right before you eyes. That scene was really heartwrenching.
I hope I can play through the rest of the game today so I can cap some ass and take sweet sweet revenge.

PS3: skate.
Awesome game, and it looks and feels more like real skateboarding than the Tony Hawk games. But damn it's hard to do flips and grinds there.

No joke about the toughness of the game, man. The good thing is, it feels really good to nail some tricks. I have to say that EA has a good thing going for them by using that right thumbstick to do moves that were once associated with button combination.Aetherfukz wrote:PS3: skate.

Yeah. In Tony Hawk's it's a 9million point line, which grinded me through the whole level, spinned me about 360thousand degrees and did a completely nuts special move every 5 or so seconds on the whole way. And still I'm like "Yawn. Did that trick for the 100st time."
In skate it's like: "Dude I just landed a Kickflip 360 from that rail over there! Sweet!"

Re: What lies in your console as we speak?
The only problems I have with skate. are very minor. You can grind and manual for as long as you want, provided you have the speed. The other one is that you can change the camera in replays, but you can't in the game? The d-pad's used for nothing else in the game, so EA should have made the option available.

Fun as in worth-buying-for-battlefield-like-multiplayer-fun or just rent-and-have-fun-fun?
The one thing that makes me want to try out the game (on the PC) the most are the perks or however they're called. Last stand and that stuff. It's just too awesome in a multiplayer shooter to die, and then shoot your killer with a pistol in the back, or worse, blow up your surroundings with a grenade

Re: What lies in your console as we speak?
I haven't tested multiplayer yet but I hear from others that it's pretty satisfying, especially with those perks and whatnot. The campaign is pretty solid, though everything is basically scripted. Hardened mode does provide a good challenge so the difficulty curve exists for those who like challenges, and the graphics. Oh my God the graphics. Words can't describe how awesome it is.
Gameplay acts like how you would expect it to. Despite how pretty the game is,
I have to say the best thing is being pounced on by a K-9 and then doing melee at the right time to see your player grab the dog by the neck and the back of the head and just break that doggie's neck right before good old Fido rips yours out. I expected the soldier to put the knife through the larynx but this was just more satisfying.
That little bit in gameplay and the overall atmosphere made the gameplay much more satisfying than just a game with awesome graphics.
It's nice to see such a game with top notch graphics deliver on great gameplay as well.

xbox live was jacked earlier I could do anything. Anyway yes the multiplayer in COD4 is great. It takes some getting use to but after awhile its great. The leveling up is fairly quick if you do what you must and do it correctly.

Yeah it's awesome. You can climb everywhere, hide within the crowd and the AI of the guards seems really sophisticated. On top of that it's just so smooth to play a badass assassin, and you have so many option how to plan your assassination.Starnum wrote:Is it everything I'm hoping it is?Aetherfukz wrote:PS3: Assassin's Creed
One thing that bothered me first was the story: You are a guy lying on a strange machine in our time in a lab, living through the memories of one of your ancestors to find "something". But after playing for like an hour it feels natural and not forced. I'm psyched to see what it is that those crazy scientists want me to remember
Re: What lies in your console as we speak?
Assassin's creed is a good game. I wouldn't go as far as to saying its great. It gets extremely repetitive after you eliminate the second target. The fighting is great the story is good but it has its predictable elements. Now with that said it does many things extremely well. But with the repetitive nature of the "investigations" and the lines of all the NPCs other than major characters get annoying after awhile.
I would suggest it. But it doesn't measure up to the other games that came out this month.
MASS EFFECT TUESDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
