Movies of 2007

Post by Fuji Nagase »

there wasnt one for this year, so i thought i should start one.

curse of the golden flower: beautiful in almost everywayheart but also terribly over dramatic as well. (only big draw back)
gong li was beautiful as always and chow yung phat had a supprisingly unheroic role. visualy, it was so stunning. the score was nice, editing was well done, and the acting was also great. it had a VERY comic book qulity to it as well. it was really stunning to see.

so here's to the curse of the golden flower to kick off the new year!

well its not really a "2007" movie, but its a 007 movie so i figure it still counts lol. I FINALLY saw the new bond movie. I thought it was pretty good despite you could pretty much tell where the plot was going and that the poker game was only full houses, quads, nut flushes and straight flushes.

Just saw Cranked with Jason Statham(from Snatch and The Transporter). It kicked ass. Weak plot and a bit silly at times, but the rest was pure action. Definitely a fun movie for the guys.

I just finished watching it this minute. Summary of the Movie: one big ass male fantasy.

Whats wrong with that?

I love action movies like that. I love on of those much more than big sappy drama.

Jason Statham is a hero of mine now for making a new much needed action hero.

I saw Sympathy for Mr.Vengance last night, very sick even darker than old boy didnt thought that was possible. Pretty good but lacked the special extra thing Old Boy for example had. 7/10

Silent Hill- some pretty creepy scenes but very weak plot and acting except the creppy little kid. 5/10

Resident Evil 2- Good action but much less zombie feasting which is the hole point of RE. 5.5/10

Yeah, I get to watch all the new movies when they come to DVD now, which is pretty pimp. I saw Crank, that shit was off the chizzle. Um, I just watched Undisputed 2, and was actually surprised to find that it had a some-what compelling plot, and of course the fighting was pretty cool. So yeah, nice little indie film there. Well, I don't know if it's indie or not, but I'm pretty sure it went straight to DVD. Tonight I watched Matchstick Men, which is an older movie, with Nic Cage. It was really good, I definitely recommend it.

I consider Guillermo Del Toro as a second Peter Jackson, or Sam Raimi. You look at his filmography: Mimic, Devil's Backbone, Hellboy, Blade II, and that Makes Pan's Labyrinth a lock. I will probably go next week.

I'm not sure why, but I really want to see Smokin' Aces when it comes out (Jan 26th I think). The only thing that makes me cringe about it is tht fact that Ben affleck is in it.

It's a pretty fantastic movie; dark, surreal.

Sam Raimi i get but i think Del Toro has better potential than Jackson.

Jackson hasnt impressed me except Lords of the ring. Of course i am talking about Hollywood movies, not fan enough to watch his old indie movies.

Blade 2 is a great action movie.

Devil's Backbone i gotta check out.

I hope Jackson is not following a Besson-like path, but King Kong was pretty good, so no alarm here. We'll see how Del Toro cope with celebrity, as his latest movie will surely give him that. He just hasn't left his mark on a recognizable franchise yet (except Mimic but nobody cared, and as far as I'm concern, Blade, but he only made one, but what a shock. We'll see what he does with Hellboy, #2 is coming).

3 movies you should check out "before LOTR": Frighteners, Bad taste, and if any, Meet the Feebles. I can't emphasize more this last one, that's how much Peter Jackson is awesome. This movie is cult, and you're up to a surprise if you're not familiar with "this" Peter Jackson. An hilarious one.

So yea Peter Jackons wont be doing the hobbit any time soon. I guess hes suing New Line for 50 or 100 million dollars for more money out of LOTR. So the executive producer wont allow him to direct the hobbit.

It's an American movie starring Michael Jai White, the guy who played Spawn. I thought the sequel was better than the first one, even though the first one had Wesley Snipes and Ving Rhames in it. I felt they made White's character George Chambers, who is supposed to be the ex-boxing Heavy Weight Champion of the World, easier to care about then they did in the first one. When you see how badly he's treated in the prison, especially considering he was setup just so they could get him there to fight their champion, you can't help but hope to see him get out of there. Anyway, I want to see Pan's Labyrinth and Smokin Aces as well.

All over PL...as soon as I have time. Been pretty excited about that one for awhile.

Curse of the Golden Flower...hell yes, but I'll probably catch it on DVD...Chow Yun Fat is reason enough alone. On that note, brings to mind some great promo pics I bumped into for POTC 3. Chow Yun as Captain Sao Feng looks to be a supreme badass (of course)...

Thar be Pirates?!

Anyway, I'm apprehensive as hell about this Transformers movie. Dunno what to think. On one hand, I'm excited & hopeful being that I was raised by the TF, not some frilly pink Barbie bullshit. So some part of me is desparately hoping it's not as terrible as it possibly may be.

Still, the realistic part of me knows what to expect...the same dumbass let down all the other 'iconic' stories (be it comic or otherwise) have been to me.

For those of you that haven't seen the trailer yet, here

My fave for 2006 was Aronofsky's "The Fountain". Fantastic movie, but certainly not for everyone. Hopefully there'll be some more dirt on whether the rumors of him taking on "Lone Wolf & Cub" have any credibility.

Heh, there are already seven movies about LWAC, and they only come to about the end of book 2 or so....

But yeah, hollywood should never even think about it.

As to movies 2k7: I can't talk about that at all. Haven't watched anything yet. :wtf:

I watched Casino Royale earlier this month. I thought it was great. Still, not a movie of 2007, although that's the year I watched it.

I'm holding my breath for Pirates 3. And being a major fan of Transformers, I can't wait to see that too.

With all the great comments you guys made about Pan's Labyrinth, I suppose I'll go and watch that movie, sometime. I plan to watch Pursuit of Happiness once I get the time or I stop being so damned lazy.

Yeah, I want to see Transformers and The Curse of the Golden Flower, for sure. Has anyone seen The Promise yet? Is it good?
