I personlly dont care for most picture sigs but ive seen some that are cool. Let them keep em but at a certain size.

I guess that question is actually directed towards 56k users who takes time to load shit up. People with ADSL and Broadband probably don't give a shit (like me.

Eldo: you are absolutely correct. one of the nice things about our corrent layout is that it is less image heavy than the previous bbtech theme. Also, I tried to keep avatars under 512KB in size, but Oro wanted bigger for his massive movies... now, with that and signatures as with animations as well it pretty much sucks for people who don't have broadband. 
halfnhalf: I've lived with less than 56K for quite awhile (since 1988 w/ a 300bps modem, that is 300bps in comparison to 56,600bps). It wasn't till 1997 that I demoed Cable based broadband to our cable company in the area.

About scrolling... that's kinda problem with aeolus heh..
On BBTech (for example), considering the avatar height that most people have (~300 pixels) -- it results that even if the post doesn't contain much text (which happen often -- small also include the size of this current post) there's a lot of "wasted" space. The signature kinda fill in for that wasted space.
On Aeolus, sadly, aligns it at the bottom -- creating a large blank and more scrolling.
Oh well, Was just a side-comment/note ;)

It's just the sig aligned at the bottom that cause trouble on Aeolus

Oh yeah, about sig size -- imo the max should be 500 width x 130 height. Although this is really a "max", smaller is always preferable.
Personally I use 460x120
edit: switched to 130 height max after all

We have a nice arrangements of colors in the online users tab at hte bottom ...we got tha grays the whites the blues and the yellows .. Its like a skittles comercial "taste the rainbow"
