What are your socio-econic and political leanings?

Here is a test that Killfile found, it does a graph of your leanings that may (or may not) surprise you.

Questionnaire

My leanings are this: psi29a's nifty graph

Economic Left/Right: -4.75 (WTF ?!?!?!?)
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: 0.72

Does that make me a bad person?

Cool test by the way

Graph of my leet liberalness. I ended up farther left (economically) than I expected. Curious where Comrade Killfile resides.

Killfile is a damn thief.***

But that's okay.

I used this as the foundation for two weeks of lesson plans when I was teaching. It's a fantastic exercise.

My results shouldn't really come as a surprise:

Economic Left/Right: -6.25
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -7.49

Though some of those questions are asked such that two people with completely different perspectives may respond with the same answer (I worry especially about the ways that questions that tap regulatory capitalist tendencies are interpreted), this is absolutely the best test I found.

***I reserve the right to bust his chops seeing as I introduced him to this a few years ago.

i find the poll quite faulty.
some questions are factual: "It's natural for children to keep some secrets from their parents." "It is a waste of time to try to rehabilitate some criminals."
while others are too open ended: "No broadcasting institution, however independent its content, should receive public funding." does the funding come with legisation or other strings attached? or are they just giving free money away?

looks like most people here are in the same quadrant. or maybe the poll is just skewed in some way.

Economic Left/Right: -2.25
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -1.79

I was trying to make myself like Hitlerish or George W Bush as much as possible, outlawing all homosexuals, people should earn their pay, corporations, be hard core religious, and a total racist. Look at the score it gave:

Economic Left/Right: 5.50
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: 7.74

I was hoping it would be more hard core, leaning towards Hitler, but it came off as George W Bush with a nazi mustache. Hm, interesting.

My real score was -4, -3.82. Go figure.

Did you choose "strongly agree/disagree" or "agree/disagree"?

So vtwahoo and killfile... what was so interesting about my score? Killfile stood over my shoulder and said "Very Interesting", as he REALLY wanted me to take this test to 'figure' me out. :P

Although I don't assume to speak for Killfile, I saw a lot of scores when I used this as a teaching exercise and you are the first I've EVER seen to score so close to center on an axis. That is, in and of itself, very interesting. But to really "figure you out," I'd want to talk through your reasoning behind each question. This is just a good way to get a ball-park estimate of where you're coming from.

Now, having said that I do want to comment that I have issues with the way that they label these axes in their analysis section. I'm good with the identification of neo-liberalism on the far right but to label the far left as "communism" and to equate libertarianism and anarchism seems a little to simplistic for my taste. It seems that the thought they put into the question design didn't translate to the analysis.

Basically saying strongly agree/strongly disagree with questions like corporations should rule the world, national security comes first at the cost of privacy, yes to dictator rule, hate culture, being a religious nut, etc.

I'm all for the so called "night-watchman state" (my personal view of the perfect state) however, that is idealism and not reality.

The questions took me awhile to answer, so I answered them as I would any "English" question, do I agree with the sentence and not with all the 'emotional' responses they where designed to trigger.

It is great to be idealistic, however everyone must come to terms with the establishment. Pinochet, Lenin, Chi, and the rest, they had the will to change the world, but in the end the world still won.

The earth and it's states of citizens is nothing more than a sea with tides flowing in and out. A splash here will cause a Tsunami there..... there I go, getting all metaphorical and shit. Time to go take some Tylonal PM and a beer. I'm out.
