Favorite Genre?

The latest and greatest of Japanese Animation. Found something new, or perhaps old and arcane... if it has to do with anime, it goes right here.

Not much room for discussion with a thread like this. I prefer good fighting series. ;)

If I were to define a more concrete genre, I would say mostly older stuff. I think anime is mostly crap now a days. Just me though. Plus I have been out of the scene for a while so I am not up to snuff on all the anime out there. I wanted to see that Dead Leaves show and that one about the writer or whatever who is accompanied by ghosts or some shit like that.

*cough* rose-tinted glasses *cough*

It's not that it's getting worse, it's that you don't remember the tripe from before, probably because all that's recommended from "The Good Ol` Days" is the good stuff.

My favorite genre is science fiction. I also tend to enjoy dystopian series.

The gritty stuff is probably my favorites, like Berserk and Blade of the Immortal.

Except there are no animes of those.

Berserk anime wasnt an anime it ended before the story started.

yea, the really gritty parts happened just after the ending of the anime because the "grittyness" stems from how guts deals with the eclipse not just the actual eclipse.

Dead Leaves sucked so much anus.

It was the most pointless anime i've ever seen. It was mildly funny but still, save yourself the 40 or whatever minutes.

Anyway, I'm mainly into intellectual type anime. Anime with deeper meanings or unique, well done storylines.

Dragonball Z.

It has a deep mesage of never giving up, just keep fighting and fighting and fighting and fighting and fighting and fighting and fighting and fighting and fighting and fighting and fighting and fighting and fighting and fighting and fighting. Even when your opponent is the stronest in the universe, you keep fighting till you find someone stronger. Even when your anime goes almost 20 times longer than most and your artist can't stop beating that dead horse. Even when your show ends up being 17 minutes of guys grunting and screaming at each other with little or no dialog. Just keep fighting.

Any way.........

Arke, I know there was a lot of shit back in the day. It just seemed to me that there was a lot more good and great stuff being made back in the day. Maybe it's just me though, like I said I have been out of the loop for a while.

Yeah GITS is deep for sure. It actually made my head hurt cause most animes i watched before was action only then came GITS and BAM!

My anime taste is like my music taste im all eater meaning i like all genres if it is good to me. The only genre that isnt good to me is romantic animes cause i haven tried them. Fantasy i have seen as anime i like is Record of Lodoss War ova and Beat Vandal buster

Here are some of the genres i like Fantasy ala Berserk but i havent fantasy as hardcore and gritty as beserk which a damn shame.

Sport like Ippo,Major,Slam Dunk

Mecha like G Wing, etc

Comedy- School Rumble,Yaki,Sunabouza etc

Action- Kenshin,Hellsing,FMA,HXH etc

Sc-fi like GITS,Gungrave,Cowboy Bebop etc

Ninja- like Ninja Scroll(Jubie had the coolest sword tech ever!),Basilisk etc

Naruto isnt ninja to me,ninja is real ninjas like Tenzen,Jubie,Yashamaru. No cute monsters and stuff ;)

I dont care what Naruto genre is called it isnt Ninja, its like smallville a teen drama :P

I loved Naruto in the first 60-70 eps before it became monster vs monster cause then it was alittle about ninja. Naruto could only use a little of kyubi chakra to make him a better ninja and not a monster like in the manga lately.... Thats why i like Rock Lee and Neji they fight like ninjas no cheap power that makes put out enermous extra chakra like Sasuke and Naruto.

P.S i know what the genres are called in jap ;) I used the english names and put animes that are in the same genre in the same category.
