Meh. I agree that there is a difference between "I want you" and "If you want to join, I have no reason to refuse you," and that difference is significant in revealing things about Griffith and his relationship/feelings for Guts. The reason I initially conceded the point (beyond the already stated reasons) is that one can legitimately see Griffith's statement to Rickert as an invitation of sorts. It might not be as strong as the one he extended to Guts, which is still significant, but it is at least more than I had recalled him doing before The Prince made his post.
