I didn't call him a loser; I said he had no life cuz he doesn't. But that doesn't stop him from being my religion now does it? Those two things are completely unrelated so don't put words into my mouth

Well he probably has more life than other manga artists of less prestige. And having a life in this case means: To have a life outside his job. Miura can make his own decisions, can take breaks, can do what he wants basically. I pity those less famous artists, who are really always at the mercy of their publishers.

Yare, yare. To know whether one has a life or not, two conditions must be met. First, you must actually know the life that one leads. This is not something one can determine without actually knowing the person. Second, one must know what life is. This can be a hard enough concept to grasp in and of itself.

wow, thats coincidental, i just posted in a thread about him out of nowhere. It's true Vlad is a badass.. think his name translates into "son of the devil"

Dude, seriously having no life doesn't make u a loser. I have no life right now because i'm working really hard in my schooling and my job. Does that make me a loser? Fuck no! Same goes for Miura, he has no life cuz he's creating a legacy so he'll be remembered for generations to come. So as i said before, don't put words in my mouth saying that i think he's a loser, so fuck off.

From the American Heritage Dictionary of Idioms

get a life

Acquire some interests or relationships of one's own. For example, Stop sitting around and complaining-get a life. [Slang; late 1900s]

From the Jargon Dictionary: Get a life! imperative. Hacker-standard way of suggesting that the person to whom it is directed has succumbed to terminal geekdom (see computer geek). Often heard on Usenet, esp. as a way of suggesting that the target is taking some obscure issue of theology too seriously. This exhortation was popularized by William Shatner on a 1987 "Saturday Night Live" episode in a speech that ended "Get a life!", but some respondents believe it to have been in use before then. It was certainly in wide use among hackers for years before achieving mainstream currency via the sitcom "Get A Life" in 1990.
Shatner also referred to them as losers.

However, if you are french, that is different because the French have no equivalent for "loser".

Personally, I think people who work hard do have lives. Do you suppose that your definition of life doesn't exactly mesh well with others interpretation? So really, I chalk it up to bad choice of words and leave it at that.

I've always been apt to say "You're a loser, get a life." only because the two go hand in hand. Miura has a life, and isn't a loser. You working hard with your schooling means you have a life, because it is important.

*Points to psi's message*

He is right. I believe you can have a life and just work on school all day. You may not have a social life, but you are still being productive and working hard and are doing something that means something and is important to you, so I would say that you do have a life.

Not having a life is more just not being productive in the world in any way. Just sitting around doing nothing all day is not having a life.

Also I put loser and not having a life together as well.

PS I can be nice to, sometimes I just pick a little.

Mods yes. People with more posts , not neccesarily. Post count doesnt really mean that much does it. I mean people like Femto and Eldo have less counts then me and get more respect. However in this case yes, because all the guys with higher post counts are tite. :P :P

Damn strait, but I was more meaning regulars I guess than high post count. Though regulars and high post count go hand and hand normally. But you are right because most of you guys get more respect than me, and with the exception of you I have more posts. :P

By the way my friend, there's more to life than leaving your home. Aside from Miura's art being pwnage and added to the fact that some people think that job would be fun (I wouldn't know so im not speculating), Miura is dedicating his life for us. My friend who introduced me to berserk and wants to be a cartoonist said that his wish, his dream, is to make something that the fans love, the same way I love berserk and I get depressed over all the people who would love it so much but will never know about it because they weren't at the right place and time. I was very lucky to be introduced to this manga which i love with all my heart. To me, as for Miura I'm sure, the fact that your fans love your work is possibly one of the greatest lives you can lead.
And so what if he watches TV to see the world? It's shaping his perspective differently than everybody else.

Yes Kentaro Miura has a life, a life which he dedicates to you because your love empowers him to higher levels than most humans could hope for.

*sigh*....

This line made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

You speak the truth my friend and I can relate to that line 100%.

Oversoul you can move worlds with that speach, good job. Also I believe I remember reading somewhere he does get out some to see the world, that is where he gets alot of his influences from. Most artists use real things to help with thier sketches anch such, since coming up with it off the top of your head is a bitch.
