In a letter addressed to John McKay, US Attorney for the Western District of Washington, and sent to media outlets, Thompson this morning said the site was using a variety of means "to encourage and solicit criminal harassment" of him.
Thomspon wrote to McKay, "Please help me if you can," but did not include specific actions he wished to have taken against the site. McKay's office prosecutes cases investigated by several law enforcement agencies in Western Washington, including the FBI.
In today's news post, Penny Arcade artist Mike Krahulik addressed the situation for the comic's fanbase. "Apparently many of you took it upon yourselves to send some extremely well thought out complaints to the Florida Bar," he wrote. "I have a feeling that might explain Jack's most recent attack on us. I want to stress that I don’t think anymore mails need to be sent to the FBA. I feel like by now they understand what the situation is.
I don't know about anyone else, but in keeping up with the doings of Jack, my heart races. This is one of the things I feel most passionate about, because he is attacking some of the very things that I love in this world. If this comes to a head, I would like to help fight the good fight and crush Jack in every way imaginable to make an example of him for others to study.
I wonder who else in the world would support PA in a court battle that I'm sure will happen in the near future?
Gabe brought up a point when he talked about just dropping this battle. We know that Thompson is a certified looney, and as long as he is a lead anti-gaming voice, people will be more likey to see things our way, since we aren't raving psychopaths. Just imagine what would happen if someone who was, say, compitant was to talk over Jack's spot. I shudder to think it.
I read this in the comment section of a Gamesarefun.com article about Thompson's latest fax to the FBI for assistance and loled:
dice_for_death wrote: My take on events.
Thompson: No!! How can this be?!
Voice: Do you... want the power?
Thompson: Huh? Who's there?!
Grahf: Doth thou desire the power?
Thompson: Yes... power! I want the power!!
Grahf: (outstretches his arm) My fist is the
divine breath! (glow) Blossom, o fallen seed, and
draw upon thy hidden powers! Grant unto thee the power of the glorious 'Mother of Destruction'!
Thompson: (surrounded in a glow of light) Aughhh, urgh, huhhhh...
Personally I'm rooting for something very heavy to fall on him from a rather impressive height -- preferably something with points.
Winston Churchill once said, "A fanatic is one who can't change his mind and won't change the subject." The sentiment holds true for Mr. Thompson more than just about anyone else. Are video games really the cause of society’s ills? Are our children’s minds being poisoned by violent entertainment?
A better question would be, are kids any more f**ked up today than they were 20, 50, or 100 years ago? A quick search yields references to a 3 year old girl brutally killed by two 10 year old youths in the UK in the 1960s and a history of violence in children dating back as far as the 6th Century AD.
It is also worth pointing out that, only recently have children been denied an outlet for violent impulses. As recently as First World War, children were actively used in combat roles in Western society. In ancient Rome a child came of age at 14 and was expected to serve in the military. Gutting a dozen people with a dull bronze sword at the foot of the Alps isn't quite the same as shooting up a high school, but it certainly demonstrates that violence amongst children isn't a new thing.
Even so, perhaps kids are getting worse today. A wise man once said "Children today are tyrants. They contradict their parent, gobble their food, and tyrannize their teachers."
Of course, the man who said that died 2400 years ago - you know him as Socrates.
Socrates really knew what he was talking about didnt he
But honestly I really cant see this guy (Thompson that is, not Socrates) having all horses home so to speak.
But to get back to if the children of today is getting more out of control then before I really dont know, it could also be that the media is reporting everything nowadays. I dont think they did it in the 60´s for example I think.

I think that's the point. The media nowadays takes everything to get attention, everydays small cases were something happens. Look at all the talkshows with all the stupid inmature people. News about children that did something bad to others. It's not like they didn't do it years ago, they just didn't get that much attention.

Ay i don't think starting anything like a smear campaign against old Jacko will stop him from doing what he loves best. If theres a discussion to be had then we can all do it in an adult manner, not going around using government connection to get what he wants just like some 4 year old. You just cant win against this guy he doesn't want to see that all people aren't as useless and irresponsible just like the parents he represents.
As for the whole keeping violent games away from children. Well i have to say that IF the child is informed, by his parents, that what he plays is fiction and nothing worth imitating then i think its ok. So long as the parents keep there kids under control and do their jobs as parents, the child has a very good change to grow up well adjusted. But all this would require responsibility and actual brains, so allot of the parents that blame violent behavior on media NEED the government to tell what they are suppose to do or do it for them, these are the type of people who have no back bone to stand up to anybody not even their own children.
Even if you stand up against him, he'll just accuse you of a crime you never commit. Sadly he's got friends in high places but they're all embarassed by him.

Thats what im saying trying to dicuss anything like adults with this dude is a practice in futility. I think most webcomic artist that have been contacted by him think so to and have resolved themselves to stop trying.
