On a somewhat related topic, has anyone read Shonan Junai Gumi? It's a prequel to Bad Company and GTO

Both star Onizuka, I think both are about his gang days, I know that Bad Company at least is about his gang days. Unfortunately there never was an anime for it but I have Bad Company manga, just looking for Shonan Junai Gumi

Are either of them as good as GTO. Cause GTO is one of my favorites. Well if its anything like it I would probably still like it.

How many volumes is Bad Company? I see both ckmoney and neverwhere have it, but they both only have one volume.

Also Shounan Jun'ai Gumi is on ckmoney, but only 4 volumes and 1 chapter of volume 5.

I have read that this manga is over 30 vols long.

Bad Company is good but of course GTO is better.

I have Shonen Love Squad (a direct translation of the name) and Bad Company's just one of those chapters at the end of the manga volume. It's probably a volume long when put together. It details how Onizuka and his dead-hard companion first met, and eventually settles their differences. Shonen Love Squad is more of a 'rebel' side, where it's mainly fights between classmates and other stuff. It's a lot wilder than GTO. I prefer GTO to Shonen any time.

I can't remember. It's more than 20, more than GTO. You know how sometimes in GTO there's some flashbacks about his youth? It kinda explains it a little bit in Shonan manga.

And Ryuji's girlfriend has a VERY weird origin. Apparently she had a split personality. Yes, it's fucking weird. :?

The manga has its good moments because Eikichi and Ryuji are always trying to find ways to get LAID. And some of the chicks they encounter are pretty damn hilarious.

Sorry to bring this thread back to life, but I just had to reply to a Shonen Junai Gumi thread. I cant find anyone else who has an interest in the series. MangaProject is doing scanlations of the volumes, but there only up to Vol 5, and its been like 3 yrs since they started.....they released like 3 episodes this year so far so it isnt their top prioirty to do. I know that the series is 31 volumes long, but according to this site

http://www.nippon-export.com/catalog/ad ... c4ba91d780

it was re-released into 15 volumes ( i think). Too bad I dont know japanese or I woulda bought these!

Onibaku is their nickname. Basically Shonen Junai Gumi and Bad Company are the story of their youth, if I recall.
