She alleges that the defendants 'engaged in misleading and deceptive practices in packaging and selling' the game, which she purchased for her 14-year old grandson. This will be interesting, and scary, to watch unfold in the courtrooms. Will the M (17+) rating of the game save Rockstar?"

(14:13:52) dos.azn: but she bought it herself
(14:14:07) dos.azn: and how could u not see the M rating on boxes
I will be waiting to see how this unfolds. Sorry grandma, I don't agree.
As some Slashdot readers have pointed out, the back of the GTA:SA box reads like this
Rated M17+ for:
1. Blood and Gore
2. Intense Violence.
3. Strong Language.
4. Strong Sexual Content
5. Use Of Drugs.
Strong Sexual Content! Ok, so it doesn't say Explicit sexual content. But more importantly, given the dates that this woman supplies, she bought the game for the PS2 - that's significant because accessing the Hot Coffee Mod on a PS2 requires a mod chip - which is a criminal violation of the DMCA. Now - who bought little Johnny the Mod Chip? On a computer, she might have a case, but if you have to install new fucking hardware to view this content, I think maybe the game developer isn't at fault. I can probably find a way to make the Mickey Mouse Club pornographic if I get to change the system hardware.
In my mind, that rating system is retarded.
"Killing cops and murdering civilians by the dozens is ok, as long as it doesn't involve the preservation of the human race somewhere along the way"- am I the only one who doesn't spot the logic in this statement?
ESRB Helps Parents Choose the Right Games for Their Families
The ESRB rating system is designed to give parents the information they need to evaluate a computer or video game before making a purchasing decision. The ratings are not meant to recommend which games consumers should buy or rent or to serve as the only basis for choosing a product. Rather, parents s hould use the ESRB ratings in conjunction with their own tastes and standards and their individual knowledge about what's best for their kids.
ESRB recommends that parents learn about games before making a purchasing decision. Game reviews printed in newspapers and publisher web sites can be excellent sources of information. To search for games that are appropriate based on age categories and content, use our online ratings search feature.
ESRB also urges parents to talk with their children about their favorite games. Playing the games with your children helps stimulate those discussions, and playing games as a family can also be a fun way to spend time together.
and
The ESRB is actively working with video and computer game retailers to educate their customers about the rating system. The rating system is designed to provide parents and other consumers with an unprecedented level of detail about game content. This information is provided through two components that when used together, provide added value to consumers.
One component of the ESRB rating system is the rating symbols on the front of every game box. The rating symbols suggest which age group the game is best for. The second component is the content descriptors on the back of the box. These describe particular game elements that may be of interest or concern.
From reading this, it seems to me that the ratings on games are only suggestions, not restrictions like the ratings on movies. So technically you should beable to buy a M rated game even if you are under 17.
I like America: Anybody can sue everybody.
But does this 85 year-old even think she can win this?
She must be retarded or demented or something.
She should sue herself for buying this for her grandson.
God damn, will you guys stop abbreviating 'something' to 'sth'? Its annoying.
To keep this post on topic: Fuck the old hag.
"We must question the story logic of having an all-knowing all-powerful God, who creates faulty Humans, and then
blames them for his own mistakes." - Gene Roddenberry
I almost know for sure that the hag will loose this one... It was stated before... Bought during the ps2 only period so only way to see those scenes was with mod chip. And at that time game was also rated 'M' so why the fuck is she giving a 'M' rated movie to a kid with the age of 14?... My judgement: Sue the hag for damage to the name of the rockstar company
I didn't know sth was something. I thought it meant 'south' or something, which didn't really make much sense anyway, heh.
Now, if the grandma said that she got a heart attack from playing the game, she would have gotten a better case than this.

Spell check please!
Pogrom is a real word, though anti-Semitic in nature. It originates during the Tsarist period of Russian History to refer to the massacres of Jews, typically brought about by mid-level organs of the Russian government.

po·grom An organized, often officially encouraged massacre or persecution of a minority group, especially one conducted against Jews.
(Russian, outrage, havoc, from pogromit', to wreak havoc : po-, adverbial pref. (from po, next to) + gromit', to outrage, wreak havoc (from grom, thunder).)
If anyone's interested in a discussion of pogroms, or a more detailed discussion of the Tsarist period, just let me know!

Good word usage, I'll add that to the list.
Already added it to mine ^^

I did, and I did. Sadly, my history degree doesn't get enough exercise at work now -- more electrons than eons. I guess that means you guys get to deal with me going off on random tangents.
