Currently Watching?

The latest and greatest of Japanese Animation. Found something new, or perhaps old and arcane... if it has to do with anime, it goes right here.

im watching turn A gundam now. the design of the gundam turned me off at first. but i like everything else about the series. but it is neat because they are in an era still useing bi-planes and what not, when you find out that the world is building itself back up from some horrible event in the past, where some of the humans from that time fled to the moon. well now this moon race wants to come back to earth and their mechs want to have a talk with your bi-planes.

meanwhile people are digging up hidden/buried mechs from the "dark age" of technology.

on an unrelated note anyone hear anything on the eden of the east movies?

watching as of late:

Unicorn Gundam ep1 - now eagerly awaiting ep 2-6
GenoCyber - "FROM THE DIRECTOR OF M.D.GEIST" - need more anime like this
Yugo the Negotiator - English Dubs Only
Amazing Nurse Nanako
Ghost in the Shell 2nd GIG - BLU RAY + eng dub

gonna rewatch Black Lagoon - IN BLU RAY + eng dub
waiting for Encodergasm to finish off Gundam ZZ in BLU RAY - HeroLegends did a pretty piss poor job with the subbing
might rewatch Turn A Gundam IN BLU RAY if it comes out online

anyone else loving this loss of distribution rights?

Holy fuck indeed. I was browsing dattebayo yesterday because I thought I could use some bleach again, and saw that they had the movie on the tracker. I'm downloading right now hope the movie picks up directly where the series ended.
Ok, so it was a transitional movie. Shit's gonna blow up in the next one. I liked how complicated making Akira "King" turned out to be, how everyone who knew about it immediately reacted and started making their own schemes in order to A) Prevent his ascension to a position holding supreme executive power (assuming Juiz won't be content with just making him prime minister) or B) Exploit it to further their own plans.
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is REALLY awesome. Haven't watched the last 2 episodes yet but I'll do so sometime this weekend.

Other than that I too didn't really have the time to watch much anime in the last month'.

i have been watching a few series recently. mainly im watching Legend of the galatic heroes. the best way i can describeing it is as epic space drama. real good charcaterizations, ect all in all really good highly recommended (its what gundam wanted to do i think, but with out the mecha)

i watch a few episodes of heroman and it seems a little interesting. thing about it that caught my eye is stan lee had a hand in creating the story for it. also watching fairy tail off and on, the show amuses me

I'll second that. It may be "shonen" but it's better than Naruto and Bleach put together. Also, I've been trying to get into this mecha series "Innoncent Venus". Seems pretty interesting so far. It's only 12 eps, so maybe check that out when you have time. ;)

Re-watching "The skullman".
Dammit, I love episode 4! "Fair is foul and Foul is fair... so foul and fair a day I have not seen"
Shakespeare be damned, Macbeth couldn't possibly hope to compete with that episode in terms of intensity. It is, with all probability, the most intensely dramatic one-liner I've ever seen in fiction.

Scratch that. "I sacrifice" beats the shit out of it. Still, it's pretty intense.

Speaking of which: What's the most intense exchange (or one-liner) you have ever seen in anime?

Holy shit, the endgame story of Fullmetal Alchemist (Brotherhood) is freaking awesome. Just watched episode 60 yesterday, and damn,
It's getting all evangelion-ish. The last 10 minutes certainly looked like the End of Evangelion with Homunculus instead of Rei rising from the earth all huge and stuff. And devouring all life of course.
Can't wait to see how our lovable heros get out of this one.
Especially because we saw Winry, Maria Ross, and all the others pretty much die (it didn't look like they just lost conciousness, they clearly had pain written all over their faces). Oh and Mustang losing his eye sight, tragic yet brilliant. And kinda interesting how he lost 1 eye in the first anime, and now lost his whole vision.
Edit:
Rolos wrote:Speaking of which: What's the most intense exchange (or one-liner) you have ever seen in anime?
+ The whole "Kamina is dead. He's no longer here" and so on speech from Simon in Tengen Toppa is pretty intense especially after what he had to go through before.
+ Pretty much every line Roy Mustang said to Envy once he knew that Envy killed Hughes.
+ Eureka Seven, Episode 26: When Renton catches Eureka falling mid-air in his LFO and they have their first talk after not seeing each other for some weeks. And all around them war is breaking loose.
+ Full Metal Panic - the second Raid: I think the last episode, or one before, when Kanami gets back to Sosuke in China on the street, when Al was just airdropped but Sosuke was pretty much spaced out (before Chidori came, that is).

That's because the manga is awesome.

Just wait it's pretty cool, and yeah, that's crazy what happened to Roy.
Don't worry though, just because he's now blind, doesn't mean he doesn't still have a pair of Hawkeyes. ;)
Full metal Alchemist: (at the tune of "Die Valkyrie (or at least the bit that's always used in fiction") Meh meh meh meh, meh! meh meh meh meh, meh! Meh meh meh meeeeeeh, meh! meeeeeeeeh, meeeeeeeh meeeeeeeeh MEEEEEEEEEEEEEH!

Ahem.

Meh.

Started watching Arakawa under the bridge. Not sure what to think about it yet.

Also, playing an Ero-game (or Adult Interactive Visual Novel or something like that, very respectable-sounding) for the first time in my life. Boring as shit. Gonna keep playing only because it's the closest thing I have to meaningful social interaction. I kid. I kid. The game's name is Muv Luv. Very boring. Full of stereotypes. Currently trying to score with the childhood friend character. Unlikely to succeed.
*sigh*
Beats porn. Porn's boring now.

P.S. Anyone knows where I could find the libretto of "Das Rheingold"?

Start watching Gantz again, the best thing after Berserk.

And Rolos -- http://blogs.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuse ... =254437563

Can't find it in bookformat.

lol I also tried one of them ero-games, a while ago, they're pretty boring lol, every conversation is almost the same.
I did like "Tsukihime" though, quite good, I read somewhere that they're making a second one.

"Arakawa under the bridge" is genius in its purest form. This sandwich is the best ever. My couch is the physical manifestation of the platonic archetype of "Comfiness". This keyboard is...whoa....this keyboard is....AWESOME.

Never heard of it before reading this thread. The wikipedia article seems interesting. Probably gonna check out the anime if I can find a good fansub.

It's like "Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei", only slightly less metaphysical and far more coherent. I mean, it actually has a story.
I think by now I have a fairly accurate idea of what kind of series you like (good ones, with the possible of exception of FMA: Shonenhood), and I think you're gonna love this one.

Check out hsbsitez if you're not sure about which fansub to go for, they have plenty to choose from.

With only the epilogue episode left now, I think its funny how much the ending of the old Fullmetal Alchemist series had in common with the ending to the new Brotherhood one, in terms of important character development / action (while of course what lead up to it was COMPLETELY different). Looks like Arakawa had a few things for the characters plotted out from the beginning I think.

Shit has hit the fan and our heros have to save the world from the power of the homunculi...
- Roy loses an eye in the fight with King Bradley / Roy loses his eyesight after King Bradley pins him down to force him into human transmutation
- King Bradley is one hellova tough bitch to be brought down and finally killed
- Greed dies a more or less heroic death by pretty much giving up his life after finally being content with the way he lived (though arguably much more heroic in the new series, and on top of that he should have lived, he was an awesome, while greedy, guy) - he even dies in both versions by getting a fist trough his torso
- Al transmutes himself to save Ed and thereby goes to the other side of the gate (though of course what was over there is very different in the 2 versions)
- Ed transmutes himself to get Al back without the armor and gives up his alchemy by doing so in both versions (though only temporarly in the first anime)
- The military coup d'etat is foiled by Mustang
- And probably some more similarities I can't remember right now because it's been a loooong time since I watched the first anime and movie :D
I'm watching "Darker Than Black" now. Up to episode 13, and I'm enjoying it so far.

*edit*

Well I finished Darker Than Black, and I thought it was pretty cool. A while back a friend showed me this neat site: http://myanimelist.net I was wondering if any of you have seen it before, or use it. If you do, feel free to add me. The stuff I like about it, is that you can use it to keep track of all the anime you've seen and all the anime you plan to watch. You can also rate the anime you've seen, and they have a massive database of nearly every anime and manga out there. It can be useful for finding shows you had forgotten about, or getting information on shows you're considering watching. You can also use it to keep up with what your friends are watching, and such. Of course I only have two people on there so far, but still. Anyway, I'll post a link to my profile, and you can get to my anime and manga lists from there. Please no one make a big deal about my ratings. Those are just my opinions, based on my tastes. I rate things based on how much I like them. I'm not a critic. Anyway, if anyone's interested then check it out and add me on there if you decide to sign up for an account.

http://myanimelist.net/profile/Starnum

If you look under my profile pic, there's a link to my anime and manga lists. Feel free to let me know what you think of the site, my lists, or any recommendations you might have for me for things to watch or read. No harsh criticisms though, please. Okay, well I hope some of you check it out. The site really does have a lot of different uses and a ton of information, so maybe some of you can also get something out of it. ;)

Good looks there Starnum. I've already found out about some movies I've missed out on. I guess I'll be utilizing this site alot for the anime list part. I use manga updates list feature for keeping track of my manga habits.
