Best games of the decade.
Which are they?
10 years is a long time so choose wisely.
My top 3 picks are:
3. Ikaruga
2. Portal
1. Metroid Prime
PS: The best multiplayer game of the decade... fuck, of ALL TIME is Team Fortress 2.

Re: Best games of the decade.
I actually have a really hard time putting numbers to video games over such a long period of time... but I guess mine goes like this:
3. Sacrifice
2. The Witcher
1. Diablo II
3. Sacrifice
2. The Witcher
1. Diablo II
Steeples scrape the sky, Praising God.
Everything here exists for God, is sacrificed to God.
For those who have nothing to sacrifice,
It can be a very heartless city indeed.

Re: Best games of the decade.
KOTOR 1 and 2
Elder Scrolls: Morrowind
Uncharted 1 and 2
Soulcalibur
ShenMue 1 and 2 - sadly the third part of the supposed trilogy will never happen
All Metal Gear Solids
BattleZone 2 (we need more rts games with you as the commander commanding (duh) tanks and such directly on the battlefield as in a shooter)
Plus pretty much every other game people mentioned sofar, besides Suikoden, never played a game in that series
P.S. Dude when it comes to online multiplayer, it's pretty hard to not mention WoW which is certainly bigger than TF2. For offline multiplayer it just has to be GoldenEye on the N64. That game was pretty much the defining factor why I had to repeat a grade because we played GoldenEye for months while ditching school and drinking beer. Oh what a fun time it was
P.P.S Merry Christmas!

Metal Gear Solid 2, 3 and 4
Assassin's Creed 1 and 2
Prince of Persia Sands of Time series (personal favorite)
Legend of Zelda Windwaker and Twilight Princess
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune (I unfortunately haven't played 2 yet and probably won't in the last few days of 2009)
Jak and Daxter series (a good mix of platforming, racing, fps, and all together cartoon goodness)
Resident Evil 4
Final Fantasy X
Silent Hill 2, 3 and 4 (4 because even though people argue about whether it's canonical or not it still scares the hell outta me)
And I personally really enjoyed Waverace: Blue Storm and 1080: Avalanche and are my pick for best racing games.
But if I have to choose only my top 3, it would have to be:
1. Metal Gear Solid 3
2. Prince of Persia: Sands of Time
3. Final Fantasy X

Re: Best games of the decade.
The funny thing about these lists is that I haven't played at least half of the games you guys have listed.
I'm going to add ICO and WInd Waker to my list.

Sure, if you can edit the sailing down. A lot.

Wind Waker is a game that gets up there by its charm alone.
That game will never date visually.
Love that game.

Re: Best games of the decade.
I don't mind the sailing actually, but I wish the map was bigger. Some of the most fun i had on that game was exploring the map before I was technically supposed to. Though, because there's a set map like that it never felt as huge as the Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask worlds.
Wait a minute ... Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask was released in 2000, which counts for that decade. I'm adding that one to my list.

Re: Best games of the decade.
I will have to add Mega Man 9 to my list. I've always loved the Mega Man series and #9 is an amazing throwback to everything I loved about the series, from its awesome 8-bit music to its challenging levels to the awesome weapons you get from the bosses.
Trust me, I'm a doctor!

Re: Best games of the decade.
It could be that I was expecting too much after having played Majora's Mask, but I always saw Wind Waker as a dumbed down version of a Zelda for retarded children. I just don't see anything in that game that was any better than it's predecessors. I'm exaggerating a bit, the game wasn't that bad, but it's definitely not "game of the decade" material. And about the art style, I've seen better...Femto wrote:Wind Waker is a game that gets up there by its charm alone.

I see your Wind Waker and raise you a Jet Grind Radio (also known as Jet Set Radio):
Music in JGR was also great:

If by "dumbed down" you mean "easier" then yeah.War Machine wrote:It could be that I was expecting too much after having played Majora's Mask, but I always saw Wind Waker as a dumbed down version of a Zelda for retarded children.
Aside from that, it's an amazing game.
And Wind Waker's cel shading is more refined than JGR or JSRF.

This makes sailing bearable in Wind Waker:arke wrote:Sure, if you can edit the sailing down. A lot.
Life would be so much cooler if there was a soundtrack while you walk around town
Also, after finishing the game a few days ago, I'll definately add Dragon Age: Origins to my games of the decade.

Re: Best games of the decade.
i find it hard to think of games for this as, but i would like to say shadow of the collossus deserves to be on this list from being very original if nothing else, and the feeling of badassery that came from figureing out how to beat each boss
