A good thing to do while you're in another country is to visit the small towns. Most cities in the world are very similar to each other, so I'd only go through them if I were you. On your transition from England to France you should stop in Dover and go to the castle and check out the war tunnels, they are very cool. Then take a boat. The chunnel is dead boring and too expensive, I don't recommend it. A very cool place in the north of France is Mt. St. Michel. You should go there, you'd feel like you're in a page from Berserk (without the bloodshed and demons of course, that just wouldn't be sanitary )

Hmm... I've been in Antwerp and Brussels so many times, so I can compare both in many ways. I'd prefer Antwerp any time, especially to work there... Antwerp is indeed the home of Filip Dewinter, but I'd say there is where it ends nowadays, it is actually a socialist town with Patrick Janssens as its mayor. The efforts that were done the last couple of years did pay off. Can you say the same thing about Brussels?

I moved to Belgium in March and found job opportunities in Antwerp and Brussels right away. I have the benefit of having to evaluate both cities. Traveling by train, bus, and metro inside of Brussels and Antwerp. I feel much safer in Antwerp.

I won't go in particular detail, just that I found your statement very contradictory to what I've experienced.

To be fair, I just got here... however, I feel more comfortable with the Flemish mentality and the people here than with the French speaking community.

You will find 'fascists' and 'racists' everywhere, on all sides.

Antwerp is the best town in belgium, and gent is nice too though. Ive been studying 2 years in antwerp now, and its true that there is more racism in Antwerp than in any other province, but they only have their racism towards Muslims. You see there are some places in Antwerp like Borgerhout and Hoboken where only muslims live, especially people from Marokko. And there have been some incidents in the past plus add the fact that a lot em dont speak dutch nor french(only the older generation though), that has caused a lot of people to become more racist. Its the fault of the government really...
