Seems more like an age thing than American ignorance... the kid probably just learned that the seasons are opposite in the southern hemisphere. I remember, while learning about daylight savings time in middle school, one kid asking if it was ethical for the government to be messing with the laws of space/time like that.

As for European alphabets and keyboards... well, when I was traveling in continental Europe I gave up adding the apostrophe in my emails from internet cafes. The letters are still in the QWERTY layout, but all the special characters are jumbled around... to make room for all the crazy diacritics? I don't know. And then there's Latin, Greek, Cyrillic, Armenian, and Georgian alphabets still in common usage. There used to be more... at least Spain got rid of its letter for "ch". What can I say? Europe has a very long and diverse written history that America is lacking, so maybe it's OK for us to be a little confused and awed.

How long of you been on the net? (rhetorical question). There are always going to be stupid people making stupid comments regardless of where they may happen to reside. Take a good look at yourself for example, and your predisposition toward predictable, "played-out", narrow-minded characterization.

The fact is, from what I have read so far, one could say..... only a non-American would go out of their way to consistently try and pidgeon-hole the people of a nation for the sake of self-addressing a blatant inferiority complex.

.....By the very "nature" of human emotionalism, you can only "hate" and/or "resent" on something that holds relevance (and vice-versa).
