Berserk Movie Petition
Hey everyone. I'm new to these forums, but I visit the website quite regularly.
I've decided to make this thread simply because I think its been too long. The series has been over for quite some time, and the manga is great and everything, but all in all it just looks like a story board for a movie. I believe the fans have been keeping the interest alive ourselves for a long time with all the AMV's and MMV's and Abridged series and Flash Animation on New Grounds, and everything else a person can get from Berserk.
I have been addicted to Berserk for a number of years now, and even with everything we have thus far, it just doesn't seem to be enough.
If you think there should be a Berserk Movie please post and give a few reasons as to why it would make a good movie (or bad movie), and what you would like to see in the movie (or not see).
Personally I want to see a Berserk Movie because I think there is always going to be a strong fanbase for Berserk. This isn't a story that can just leave you alone. You are always asking yourself "whats next?" If it was a movie it would be made of pure epic, and would kick 300 into a pit of flesh eating demons.
The part I would want to see is obviously the part after the Eclipse. I would want the movie to start AT the Eclipse though. No explanations or anything. Just have it go straight into the story, and let the Berserk fans enjoy it. I would have the movie end right about where Gryphith is born again... but thats still alot of story. Honestly I just want to see Guts do what he was born to do, and that's to kill demons and dead things and to be covered in blood through most of the movie.
Shit if I got my way, the whole manga (exculding Guts being with the Band of the Hawk) would be in the movie. I mean what kind of Manga starts off with some guy screwing a demon only so he could kill her? After watching the anime to reading that... I don't think I could have been happier with the Manga. Now I think its time to see it in a movie.

Wow!! Really?? Why not?
The Manga is great and all, but for me it still doesn't really satisfy. It's sill powerful stuff, but to me thats all the more reason there should be a movie.

The manga was and still is the most powerful, appropriate and beautiful medium from which tell to the story of Berserk.
Miura has sculpted the plot and characters perfectly, in both form and personality. A movie could do no more than he has or will, and would be fortunate to match his art at all.

How could you do the Berserk storyline and character development justice within 2-hour framework?Superboi wrote:Wow!! Really?? Why not?

And as a fan of Berserk how can't the manga satisfy? It is what it is.
Let's put a smile on that face...............

Continuing the general theme here, my vote is a resounding "NO!"
Re: Berserk Movie Petition
No! Hell to the no!
I would reconsider if miora was directing and making the story for the movie, but hollywood is just rubbish at storyline(Fox would most likely do it 'bastards') Also you wouldn't get what the manga brings, which is, great story, ALOT of blood and gore, sex scenes that produce emotion (and soft core porn ) They would mispronounce the names like a bunch of dumbasses. The actors would be wrong entirely (like every movie based off of manga is) I mean, I thought at first the dragon ball movie would be good but I took a look at the actors and guess what I got
Same thing will happen to you my friend.

You sir must be crazy for that comment, the band of the hawk ark was the most essential and badass, accept the starts a little slow then what you get used to in the manga.the whole manga (exculding Guts being with the Band of the Hawk)

The entire berserk manga in a single movie? Maybe you could fit the amount the anime covers into it...maybe. As far as a series of movies...you may as well just have a second and third season of the anime. Besides there's not an actor alive that could do Guts justice.
Truth seldom makes room for comfort.

Re: Berserk Movie Petition
Hmm, lets see, 295 chapters and counting, and you want to condense that into a two hour movie? Berserk works because of what is accepted in print. If Berserk were attempted in all of its bloody, sexy glory then it would turn into torture porn in a second, the emotion fading away in an instant. The only way to do Berserk justice in film format were if Miura wrote the screenplay himself, but Guts story is so complex he almost didn't want to let it become an anime. Luckily the producer of the anime understood what was important, but some hollywood big shot never would and he would go for what he thinks the fans 'want'.

Re: Berserk Movie Petition
So you cut 13 volumes of the movie? Specially the part that explains a good part of GUts character? Yehaa right. Just for that NO! Ah fuck it, even if you put it I'd say no.Shit if I got my way, the whole manga (exculding Guts being with the Band of the Hawk) would be in the movie. Re: Berserk Movie Petition
Ye gods. I don't mean to come off as elitist or imply that Berserk isn't easily my favorite manga of all time, but. . .
Yes, Superboi is misguided when he raises the idea of condensing the entirety of the story arc into a single movie as being the best way to go- at least as far as he can be on what really is just a matter of opinion. However, I think it'd be cool to see a movie- both forms of media have their advantages and disadvantages, and a movie would give us a chance to experience a classic moment or two in a new way. It's happened before, and it can happen again- nothing says the result has to surpass the source material to be worthwhile.

Re: Berserk Movie Petition
Holy crap. So people hate my idea. I can deal with that. But all I was really trying to get off of the ground here is the idea of it becoming a movie. I'm not gonna direct/write/produce or any of that other crap for it. I was simply telling you what I would like to see in the movie.
I wasn't trying to make a petition for solely my thoughts of what would go in. I could care less if they even put anything I want in there. As long as it had a guy named Guts (and maybe even claiming to be a Zack cosplayer at times) w/ a huge sword killing undead/demons/trolls/everything else in his way, I would still go see it. What I was trying to get at though, is what YOU want to see in a Berserk movie.
It doesn't even have to be any part of the manga. It could be some part that the manga either hasn't covered, or planned on covering in the future, and could instead make that the movie. Personally I wouldn't want to see a live action movie though. When I said "movie" I was thinking more in the Japanese Anime kinda movie "movie". Like Akira and all the rest that are all mind blowing. Berserk as an ANIMATED Movie I think would be a good direction for it.
And its fine if you tell me "no" (how many people did I quote?), but you could at least tell me something you would like to see in a Berserk Movie if they were going to make one. It doesn't even have to go off of what I think it should be. I was just really curious as to what other people think should be in it.

You're missing the point. Its not your opinion or POV that people here have a problem with. Its the fact that you decided to make a thread for the sake of stating your opinion on a topic that is neither novel (see search function) nor relevant (any news or recent announcements within the industry?).Superboi wrote:Holy crap. If it makes you feel any better, almost every one here has partaken in discussions pertaining to this topic. But there lies the problem, considering this topic has already been discussed at nauseaum.
Though unlike you, there is a general consensus among most here that has been established (many times over), that any film adaptation of Berserk would be an inevitable disaster......And no offense but your arguments (and rationale for them) only help to reaffirm this conclusion.
And if you had taken the time to read through this forum, you would have found discussions pertaining to those aspects (and more) regarding everyone's POV on the subject. Including discussions pertaining specifically to how one might go about creating their own screenplay and synopsis for a film adapatation of Berserk. In fact, we have had members on this site with professor's involved in writing the actual screenplay for a possible live-action Berserk feature film adaptation being petitioned to a large movie Studio at the time.
Let's put a smile on that face...............

I agree. The only thing that could even come close or maybe be even better, would be an anime that was spot on from the beginning. Nothing like the actual anime that is, similar, but new and exactly like the manga. That would be cool b/c it would be exactly the same but also have animation and sound. The anime could have had such better animations. A movie would probably suck. Hollywood would change shit and it would be a joke. Even if it was well done, it probably still wouldn't be as good as the manga, IMO.

Re: Berserk Movie Petition
So you just want Guts to be hacking and slashing at monsters? To me, the best part of Berserk is the depth of the characters, so a mindless gorefest doesn't do justice to Berserk.
Trust me, I'm a doctor!

Damn I need that game so bad. But why is Guts fighting Caska, Judeau, Corcas and Pippin at (supposedly) the eclipse ground? Allow me to explain as best as I can. I have the branded edition of this game (Came with Gutts action figure). While traveling with Caska, post eclipse, you wander across this kid character.Aetherfukz wrote:Damn I need that game so bad. Now I don't know any japanese but what I pieced together is he can use some kind of magic and makes Gutts face off against the people who died in the eclipse. I think its implied that Gutts feels it was his fault why they died, and they are blaming him for their deaths. They are all figments of the kids magic and once you defeat them you fight him. I'm also not trying to give away too much of the plot if you were to get the game. Hope this helped.

Re: Berserk Movie Petition
While I agree, I don't think anything should be done with the manga as a whole until the story is complete as my real complaint with many anime is they barely ever let the manga finish before starting. Then they either end abruptly or continue into filler which I hate even more, since well nothing can be done cause they don't want to ruin the main story arc (Double edged sword). If they ever made a movie about Guts it would have to be small and contained to be any good, something that also rarely happens, and will still piss off plenty of people. Looking at it as a novel LoTR would be a good example of this even though the series of movies are 12 hrs long. The anime was right to end it where it did as thats small and contained as well and ends before we got into the endless adventures of Guts and Puck on the road with filler galore. Skull knight coming in would have just complicated things, better off having the viewer wonder about how he escaped.. pick up the manga to find out like I did.Starnum wrote:Jian Wen Yi wrote:No
