Currently Watching?

The latest and greatest of Japanese Animation. Found something new, or perhaps old and arcane... if it has to do with anime, it goes right here.

Romantic comedy if you're into those. Normal kid somehow finds himself going to a monster school. There he meets a girl who is a vampire and she is hot and she wants his blood and she has a Rosario around her neck. When the Rosario comes off she becomes UBER powerful and kicks other monsters asses.

Indeed. Although I found the ending just a little bit disappointing.
I've read something about that Lucy dies at the hands of Kaota (that was his name right?) in the manga and 10 years after that he reads a message in a bottle and somehow forgives her for what she's done. But alas I have not found any translated Elfen Lied manga releases that continue after Episode 77. :?

The one thing that bothered me most about the ending in the anime was that Kaota just forgave her and was able to love her.
I'm currently watching:

Desert Punk (honorable mentions)
Eureka 7
Berserk (just put on continuous and let fly)
DBZ
Naruto (just comes on)
The 12 Kingdoms
.... and Avatar: The Last Airbender, even though it's not an anime it's in the anime section at HMV

The honorable metions for Desert Punk is that I am making a Desert Punk costume for the Sakuracon in Seattle and MAN ALIVE is that going to be hard. Also Desert Punk is the most lude, disgusting, awesome anime ever! Any anime where there is more male nudity that female has got to be funny, and it's not yaoi at all! C'mon, how could you not love a show that comes up with 50 different euphamisms for penis? It's too funny.

I just finished watching Tokikake (The Girl who leapt through Time) and that movie really took me by surprise. Besides action it had everything. Loveable charakters with little quirks, a really interesting story, very funny moments, sad moments, romantic moments and, while not an ending with everything one could wish for, at least one with everything one could hope for.
Now I understand why the film won so many (non-mainstream) film festival prices. It's been a long time since I have seen such a heartwarming movie, the last with that much warmth probably being Tim Burton's Big Fish.

I can only recommend that movie to everyone, and now I'm off watching the second disc of the special edition box. :D

Edit: Also the backstory was from the same author as Paprika, which was also a great imaginative movie.

I just watched the first episode of Gundam 00. I know, why watch Gundam but I'm a sucker for mechas and giant humanoid robot like stuff. Anyway, the story is...well, not terrible, but I still consider it bad. Typical generic anime crap that has been rehashed and reused so many times, and the formula seems to be tiring. Take Gundam Wing, change the characters' names and the Gundam design, and you have Gundam 00. Only difference is that there's no masked guy...yet. Why can't they have a good storyline for once, instead of some cheap, overused formulas?

Then again, my tastes in anime are incredibly (emphasis) strict. Anime from 10-20 years ago are better than the crap today, in my opinion. Don't let my negative opinions stop you from watching it; you have to watch it an decide for yourself.

You should watch Gundam X, it's completely different from any of the other Gundams out there. It really shouldn't be named Gundam, because it doesn't fall under any of the same categories all of the other do. The main two characters are 15, but they're special. The main character, Garroad Ran is like Isidro from Berserk, clever, an ass, and a thief. He's also a real goof, which is fun to watch. The other is his girlfriend (and yes, actual relationship where they kiss and don't screw around on each other) is psychic, and she's basically who drives the story. Everyone else is an adult, except for a 12 year old chief mechanic, who is awesome. Also, you know how each Gundam they threaten dropping the colonies and causing mass destruction? Well, this one is based 15 years after that happens. They should have put that one in English, not Gundam Seed.

Just watched the first DVD of Samurai Champloo yesterday, and man what a stylish anime. Samurais and Hiphop music fit surprisingly well together. And when they scratch to cut to another scene it just adds even more style. Plus the charakters and story seem really interesting, can't wait to get home from work today to watch the next DVD.

Also it is superbly dubbed. Usually I watch Anime in japanese with german or english subtitles, but sometimes like with Champloo the dub is extremly well done. Especially because Mugen has the (german) voice of Johnny Depp, which is too significant not to listen to. :D

Its a great anime, until the last 3-4 episodes. Then it gets somewhat shitty (Is that a word even? :P).
Cant say anything about the dubbed version though.

Yeah I watched Heroic age on Crunchy roll a few weekends ago. Good stuff I liked the concept.

Ok list:

Gundam 00 - what eldo said. Its Gundam Wing 2.0 just give me mindless violence please.

Blue Drop: Tenchi Tachi no Gikyoku - I like the story so far we will see where it goes. Aliens and mass murder? I'm Game.

Myself;Yourself - It seems like a regular romance anime but I think there will be something behind the scenes. A little School Days action (lol)

Dragonaut: the resonance - A little weird with the dragons that are actually Mecha-esque with "pilots".

Goshuusho-sama Ninomiya-kun - The crown jewel of this season in my eyes. Succubus who is afraid of men but attracts them unconsciously. Ninomiya being charged with protecting her from other men and of course trying to resist her powers.

There are a few other but they aren't worth mentioning.

For a high sci-fi series it was pretty good, yes. I didn't like that it got all emotional now and then. Especially because I totally couldn't resist it, which means I was exposed as a lover of corny teariness. Damn.

I'm watching what I can get my hands on right now. Just watched Yami no something (1-13). It's basicaly full of tits, that you don't get to see properly. After each ep I had to watch some porn to get me off of it.

I'm getting the new shows, too, Dragonaut seems the best of the bunch.Night Wizard and Rental Magicka are mere filler for despair.

F*ck I'm so glad Hayate no Gotoku is still running. There's nothing better than getting wasted and watching 4 or 5 episodes of Hayate. I can't deal with 20 minute episodes of anything... it always leaves you unsatisfied, wanting more... you gotta save them up. I really dug the Utena references too... a lot of the anime references are over my head, but revolutionary girl utena had me cracking up. I never saw the ending, though a lot of my friends were hardcore about it. I should check out how it turned out. And the music is f#cking awesome... I didn't think anything could beat the original OP, but the new OPs come pretty close. Lun lun lun, f#ck yeah.

I don't know what it is, I just really like the old stuff. Today I found Venus Wars at a movie rental place. I said, what the hell, why not? Turns out to be a freaking good movie that I had seen once when I was 8 on TV. Has anyone else out there seen it?

Bleach and Naruto weekly(most of the time) and Darker than Black which I'll be finishing in the next few days. I should probably get caught up with Ghost Hound and Blue drop so I have something else to watch.
