Movies

Post by Sandman »

Anyone see any good movies lately??

Just wanted a topic where movies could be discussed.... please remember to use spoiler tags where appropriate.

Last movie I saw in the theater was Deadpool which is awesome if you haven't seen it yet. Showed it to a couple of friends that hate comic book movies and they laughed so hard they had to pause it use the bathroom and smoke a cig just to calm down... now that is a good movie.

Hell yeah, I watch a lot of movies. I've seen Deadpool, Batman v Superman, Captain America: Civil War, & X-Men: Apocalypse in the theater this year and enjoyed them all thoroughly, even if some where better than others.

Watched Coppola's "Apocalypse now".Very ...complicated movie . Those, who likes "in-trench" atmosphere ,classic rock music and Brondo might be interested.

Going old school ah Texanian :)

SO I just watch xmen apocalypse this week and I was not impressed... I would have hoped that they would have gotten an xmen movie right for once but I guess we will have to wait till the next one so they can try again..

Also just watched the Martian (waited till HBO had it) and I thought it was a very good movie... Fuck you Mars

haven't seen Xmen yet. I don't have any desire to see it anytime soon.

I watched the Warcraft movie. Thought it was just ok. I would like to see another movie but I don't know if they'll do it. It did kill it over in China and maybe that may be the sole reason there'll be another one.

Warcraft trilogy huh... I could go for that... but I can already tell there will never be peace

Watched Angry birds the movie last weekend... not to bad for a kids show.

Edit: Watched TMNT out of the shadows yesterday and I was not as disappointed this time... it was pretty good, the biggest let down was when Krang calls them reptiles and no one says no we are amphibians

Edit 2: Watched The BFG which is a kids movie but it was pretty entertaining and the CGI was amazing if you have kids they will probably like it and the adults should enjoy it as well

I take it you guys don't watch a bunch of movies or just don't care to share your feeling about them...?

EDIT 3: Watched Jason Bourne sucked, watched Neighbors 2 sucked, watched Attack on Titan (live action movie) sucked, watched First Episode of Luke Cage... not bad although not for children :(

Edit 4: Watched Miss Perigenne's school for weirdo's which was pretty cool a little weird but not bad, the 3d and CGI was well done and not all in your face with the 3d.

Edit 5: Fantastic Beasts was awesome; Dr. Strange was also amazing best made for 3d movie ever... don't go on shrooms you will never be the same

Fuck it Double Post

LOGAN!!!! BEST X-MEN Movie EVER!!!!

If they made all FOX super hero movies like this they would have soooooooooo much money they wouldn't need to join Disney's Marvel Universe (not that they are just saying)... and God knows Hugh Jackman will be back to do an old man Logan Spinoff eventually

What did you like about Logan? What makes it the best X-Men movie? I actually think Deadpool is the best. It is kind of an X-Men movie.

I watched Passengers last night. I actually thought it was pretty good, if a little predictable.

I saw Get out last night enjoyed it very much. I've heard great things about Logan so far. So I think that'll be my next week movie.

I'm sorry to say this out loud but.... I'll be going to see the Ghost in the Shell movie. That'll be a beautiful dumpster fire.

What I liked about Logan... the swearing, it seem to add the needed intensity and emotion that was missing out of the other movies; the humor, it wasn't slap stick like Deadpool it was well placed and done in a way where it did not feel forced; They might have fucked up the Old man Logan story line a little but if they really wanted to they could make it work; x-23 was cool and the story was not half bad.

Also Professor X as a decrepit old man hilarious worth every penny.

The gore was probably what made it the best x-men movie ever. Made it feel real, and it wasn't all one sided bad guys got their licks in and were clever and smarter then usual I think... and it wasn't made in 3d!!!! So no made for 3d effects fucking up the movie :D

GO Watch it see for yourself then we can have a real debate over it.

I would love to see Deadpool and Wolverine team up movie or a versus movie but that might not ever happen... although Hugh would probably come back as wolverine if they through a bunch of money at him and made the Old Man Logan movie his way. Which would be amazing because everyone in it would be a re-casted and it wouldn't matter who they were, because it didn't seem to matter in the comics, no one look like they did originally cause it is like 50 years in the future of what was portrayed in the Logan Movie

As for Passengers it was alright, not the great space voyage I was hoping for but still not bad... those suits must have been woven out of vibrainam though

So was Get Out as racist as it looked... it kind of looked like a scary movie but I couldn't tell more of a thriller maybe... let me know.

Logan worth it

I too will be seeing the dumpster fire that is Ghost in the shell... but not on opening day... I will even go see it in 3d because Scarlet J.'s boobs and skin suit deserve the attention  that and they probably have a bunch of made for 3d effects.

Yeah no more racist than any other movie with the Black man dying in the first five minutes. Though enjoyable if you like Key and Peele's work.

Yeah ScarJo skin suit for the win. Makes me think to watch Don Jon again.

I'm interested in seeing Get Out when it goes to video. I want to catch Logan in the theater, if I can just get motivated to do so before it leaves, lol. I thought the GITS trailer looked good. I'm hoping it's at least decent. I watched The Lobster a couple nights ago. I wanted to like it, and I admit it was kind of interesting, but I felt the pacing was a little too slow and ultimately it left me dissatisfied. Clearly going for a Wes Anderson vibe, but didn't quite reach the mark for me.

Interesting... Key and Peele do funny stuff this movie did not look funny but if it is a dark sense of humor type of movie I am in :thumb: (pun intended)

The Lobster, the funniest looking movie that wasn't funny at all... reminded me of Punchdrunk love thought it was going to be funny but it wasn't... not because of the Actors but because of the trailers... although seeing Adam Sandler play a serious role was a nice change of pace back in the day.

Watched Why Him? The one with Franco and the guy that plays Walter White in Breaking bad... it was pretty good not as funny as it could have been but still watchable... got to love the lingo and the old guy trying to use the new lingo but in the wrong way.. oh and if you think a Moose looks like that you are from a different planet... it looked like a

Had to re-watch ghost in the shell and the new installments to get ready for the Theatrical release... got to say there is a lot of talking that is off set by the action, both are good and have withstood the test of time. The new stuff was pretty good to although ARISE is kind of losing me, great animation weird storyline.

Anybody watch Black Mirror? it is pretty good reminds me of the twilight zone different stories different actors each time all of them are well done as far as I am concerned.... some are more British than others and some have the same concepts as some movies I have seen, but all have there little twists.

Edit: Watched Kong Skull Island, best monster movie I have seen in a LONGGGGGGGGG time like since Godzilla in 1998!!!!! It was awesome acting, CGI, effects, size ratio, monsters (other than Kong), kill rate of well known actors... you name it this movie has it. PLUS they are gearing up for war of the monsters!!!!!! got to watch the clip after the credits to see that though

I thought Logan just 'alright'. I expected it to be trash and because it exceeded that expectation it gets a pass.

Really excited to see 'Get Out' but it hasnt made its way to my part of the world yet.

I think people are just so hungry for a different kind of superhero movie that Logan felt like a godsend. I agree that Logan didn't feel like much (especially since you've seen the exact same story in The Last of Us and Children of Men), but it's still worth watching. You will be very much entertained by it.

Get Out is very very good. I don't think I've ever seen a scary movie mix in jokes and have them be funny while still scaring you for the most part. I recommend not watching the trailer though, it seems to give away too much. I would categorize the movie as racist, but it definitely draws on black and white stereotypes for the entire story.

The Lobster is pretty good, and I recommend it, but be prepared for a weird movie. It's mostly a blunt critique on relationships, how people behave in them and how society views them. In that, I think most people will find details that will relate to them from past relationships or current ones. The funny moments are mostly drawn from how absurd the world is in that movie.

John Wick Chapter 2 is the one movie everyone must see. Better than the first. Excellent action scenes, great camera control, lots of gore, very unique stunts and effects, Neo and Morpheus... It set the bar so high, I don't think any other movie will beat it as best action movie for the rest of the year.

It was good, I like the squash one quarrel and on to another, kind of mood. A lot of gun porn and gun tricks which if you watch his training video to prep for the movie you will understand why it look so good

Sell me on Legion. I've been thinking about watching it, but it's gotta be better than The Flash to get my attention.

It is, and I really like The Flash. However, Legion is of a different sort. It doesn't feel like anything from the Arrowverse anyway. I think the cinematography is pretty interesting. The whole show has a fitting psychedelic theme that I really enjoy. The way they subvert the plot throughout the show is pretty interesting as well. I'd recommend that any fan of the genre check it out. At least watch a few episodes before you decide.

So I got around to seeing Logan. I thought it was pretty good. Still not the best super hero movie, IMO, but easily the best Wolverine film. It's also proof that any true Wolverine movie should be rated R. It just feels more real that way. It's hard to do gritty with a PG-13 rating. I also saw Skull Island and I agree with Sandman on that one. It was chalk-full of win, I loved it.

I started Why Him? but then had to do something else before I finished it. What I saw was alright. I like the actors, but they seem wasted on this title, if I'm to be honest. I'll have to finish it later before I can make any final judgments. Black Mirror is on my list of shows to watch. It looks like something I'd like.

It is pretty interesting alright, feels less like a x-men series more of a scary movie... I like it cause it is set in a time period that is kind of unknown (guessing 70's 80's) so x-men are in the first class stage, also answers the question of "what if a mutant had split personalities?", villain is cool you actually don't know who he is till episode seven, your not really sure what is going on so you have to keep watching, and probably some of the best cliffhangers since Lost (before the writers strike). And yes way better than Flash or Arrow or Supergirl or Gotham... The "unknown" aspect probably makes it better due to the fact that you don't come into it with pass knowledge of the characters, that and the way it is filmed seems like its more realistic... cinematography reminds me of Mr. Robot or something.

Yes best Wolverine movie, but I cant remember a better super hero film... Glad to see we can see eye to eye on something (skull Island)

Black Mirror is a good watch, kind have got to be a techy to like it, so you can be like "that would be so cool!!" or "Fuck that" makes you think about here we are heading as a society. After the first episode it gets better... so don't let that deter you, its just showing you how fucked up it can get  that and you have to look past the British speak in it.

Well I still like Deadpool a little more, but Logan is definitely up there as one of the best. About to watch the Legion season finale actually. So that's the thing that interest me about Black Mirror. I like seeing things with social commentary. I don't mind if it's fucked up, and accents don't bother me. I actually like when my entertainment is kind of dark or twisted. It suits my sense of humor. Why do you think I love Berserk so much!? Heh, as long as the writing is good, I'm down.

Deadpool yes more Cable yes please an actual Phoenix Saga or portrayal that didn't suck  Legion season finale was awesome still liked the episode before with the chalk board... Yes Black Mirror you don't get the same thing twice, never the same actors, never the same theme, hour long episodes of fun  you will look at the world a little differently :D

So Watched Ghost in the Shell last night :thumb: great 3d effects and cinematography and slow mo; Scarlet was pretty good not great but still can pull off a robot human; they didn't stick to the anime story line but it was ok the subtle changes bugged me but not enough to ruin the movie... and Ewan McGregor is Batou.... at least I thought so till the credits rolled... all and all good movie but I watched it altered and in IMAX 3d so, I could have watched paint dry and been happy so

Sooo I saw Ghost in the shell. Was a beautiful movie that visually was faithful to source material. The plot however couldn't raise it above the white washing controversy. Hell it played into it ... But what do I know the Japanese audiences like it.

Kong and Skull Island was good. I've always been a Godzilla fan but this movie might have shifted the scales a bit. It was better than the US version of the Godzilla reboot.
