Game of Thrones

Post by isse-pisse-päron-pung »

Series is based on author George R. R. Martin's best-selling A Song of Ice and Fire series, shown on HBO.

So anyone seen the two first episode? Gotta say im hooked so far : -)

Been hearing about this for a while now, but unfortunately I don't have HBO. Really loved the books though. How's the series compare to them?

Never read the books myself, but among some friends of mine who has. According to them, it stays true to the novels.

I've never read the books, but I have a friend who's a big fan, and I've heard about them from him. I didn't know they had a new series out, I'll have to let my friend know so we can check it out sometime. :)

Big fan of books. Only seen the first episode so far and I heard it starts slow but becomes awesome. And hey, boobies!

I couldn't get into the books. Granted I only read the first one, but it didn't intrigue me enough to continue on. I just felt that Martin's characters were very bland, ill-conceived even. Everything felt so black and white.

I remember writing for the scene with the greased up sultan having sex with the 12 year old being pretty funny though.

This is my favorite show, purely based on how ill-conceived the source material is. Erotic fan-fiction in a generic fantasy world written by an old man who looks like Creepy Santa Claus who likes to touch his female fans but not his male ones?

Sold (into slavery and raped repeatedly by strong, burly men who speak a language that doesn't have a word for "thanks").

EDIT: The really bad edgy in-your-face dialogue is freakin' hilarious too. George RR Martin's marauders don't rape & pillage, they fuck'n'steal.

EDIT2: I just remembered that one of the things offered up to the "barbarian king" as a wedding gift in the first episode was, literally, a box full of snakes. Then the guests get into a fight over who gets to faux-rape a topless lady as part of some dance routine, because apparently it's not a proper barbarian wedding without at least a couple of murders aaaaaaAAAAA this show is too good to be true.

I've never heard of the books before until watching this series. I find it quite interesting. Interesting enough to wiki the series and read up on the characters. Now, if I miss and episode, I won't miss a thing. It's an entertaining show and omg incest.

I was skeptical at first, but then they they murdered a child in the name of love.
That...that was touching.
Even my decrepit, dried out little heart was run through by the sheer romance of that scene.
Going to check out the second episode now.

I think Sean Bean is an accomplished actor so that lead to me picking up this series. As the series has progressed I've debated picking up the books. After this weeks past episode I've bought the books on my kindle app.

Finished Season 2, and by the old gods, it was fantastic. Didnt have as much porn, which I actually found in the first season at time to be annoying, even though I am a fan of tits.

I am happy that they are splitting up the 3rd book into 2 seasons, but I hope that they do not add filler =\ It escapes from the story which I hate. I did not mind the addition of adding Jaime being set free into this season. I loved Tyrion and Jaquen this season. Cannot wait for next season.

At this point I've watched both seasons and I'm considering reading the books. I really like the show, it's very well done, and interesting. Season 3 looks to be really good. Yeah, Jaquen was pretty interesting. I look forward to seeing how things develop with his character, if we see him again, which I imagine we will.

I highly recommend the novels. But note, they upped the ages in the show.

Hmm surprised you haven't read these as of yet Starnum. I liked this past season on a whole even though they made some questionable choices with, certain, character development. The one thing I loved was the Ayra/Tywin path was sooo much better than what was orginally in the books.

LOL. I cant believe I only had to scroll down half the page to find a 2011 post about Game of Thrones. I used to panic when bad things happend to Sansa, now I see her as the source of everyones problems. Damn that gullible loveable red headed vixen.

Well that was a long wait

But good to see that the series is continuing

Not the greatest premiere ever but at least they touched on all the main story arcs, I hated it in last season were they didn't show us Brandon Stark till way later in the series

Cant wait to see more... and if you don't have HBO or having a hard time finding the episodes out in the wildness of the internet HBO now is free for a month, and 14.99 after that...

The North Remembers

Edit: Season 7 is in the books and it was ok. Hated the time lapse that was happening with in the same episode things that should have taken a long time only took minutes or felt like they happened instantaneously, but now that they don't have the books to go off of I can see the problems mounting... I hope the prequel stuff is out before they start with the last season cause the history of GOT is pretty cool as far as I am concerned, almost as cool as Lord of the Rings history or cooler but I guess that is yet to be seen

Love the show, but felt like the last season was rushed. It's obvious the creators are running on bullet points from Martin now.Still excited to see how it ends and how much more the books add to the story.
