The music thread.

Post by Femto »

Let's do this.

Awesome album list:

Appetite for Destruction - Guns N' Roses
Ten - Pearl Jam
Master of Puppets - Metallica
Rust in Peace - Megadeth

I'd like to be the first to say that Chinese Democracy is not as terrible as people make it out to be.

And let's try to stay clear of video game and anime soundtracks please.

I was actually listening to Master of Puppets on the way home from work today.

Because i am a Tool fanboy, I would like to add every one of their albums to this awesome list. Or is it a personal thing?

The new ludracris album is banging. "Theatre of the MInd" has on point production and luda is still a lyrical assasin. Definitely my favorite southern rapper.

The Games "LAX" was a pretty darn good cd too, if i dont say so myself. Game CAN do his thing w/o the help of Dr.Dre/Eminem/50cent. Though with them he would definitely make another classic.

For those into some underground hip hop, Immortal Techniques new mixtape "the 3rd world" is a good listen, as is Royce da 5'9"'s new mixtape "Da Bar Exam 2" . Both are produced by DJ Green Lantern.

I've actually heard some of Chinese Democracy and I liked what I heard. Havent been able to give the whole cd a good listen thru though.

p.s- we have an "official" music thread lying around the place somewhere.

Hells yeah! "And Justice For All..." is my favorite Metallica album. As for Megadeth, "Rust in Peace" is my favorite, but "Countdown to Extinction" was pretty awesome as well. Also a huge Tool & APC fan. My favorite bands are Opeth and Slipknot, for those who don't know. Any Trivium fans out there? Their new album "Shogun" is pretty badass too.

Megadeth - Countdown to Extinction
Metallica - Master of Puppets and Black Album

I've got some wide and eclectic music tastes; but mostly stuff like Tool, Rammstein, In Flames, Slipknot, Mudvayne, Disturbed...and even a couple nordic folk bands like Finntroll and Ensiferum.

If you're ever feeling courageous I'd really suggest the last two.

Yes, Ensiferum and Finntroll are very cool. I'd also recommend Korpiklaani.

I like lil wayne. I mean I can dance to the guys songs and even nod my head to it and shit but I hate how everyone and their moms think that he is on some G.O.A.T status for some reason.

On another note.

Nirvana-Nevermind
2pac-All Eyez On Me
The Beatles- The white album

fav albums of all time.

Nevermind is good.

Cobain was a terrible lyricist though.

I'll vouch for Cross from Justice and I'll throw in Decade by Rabbit in the Moon.

Great stuff.

With the exception of Primus and Cypress Hill (never got into them), I love the bloody list. Alice in Chains, hm, Rooster was the only song that I really liked.

With Soundgarden, I loved the song 'Black Hole Sun' when I was a kid. Imagine my surprise when I was playing Rock Band and there the song was. I love Audioslave stuff too.

I have some appreciation for some oldies like Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Crowded House, Eagles, Paul Simon and stuff like that.

Primus has a penchant for the silly, and because of it, most of their songs' lyrics are like kid stories (Pudding Time, Jerry Was A Race Car Driver, Mary The Ice Cube, to name a few), but not necessarily bad because of it. After getting used to Primus you'll start to like them because of it, but if you're just starting I would recommend more serious songs instead. How about Mr. Knowitall:

Les Claypool, the bassist is wickedly good, but the drummer Tim Alexander really shines on this song.

Not so into Slipknot yet, but I do like Stone Sour. Some of my other faves are Shinedown, Metallica, The Wallflowers, and James Taylor (yeah the last two are kinda soft, but I can listen to anything by them and enjoy it).

A new Susumu Hirasawa album came out a couple weeks ago called Planet Roll Call. If you like his music, then you'll like this one. But if you don't, this probably wont change anything.
