Re: The art of translation?
From what I've learned, the "ッ" kana symbol is used to represent a repeated consonant (ステップ = Suteppu = Step) It's closer to the truth to say that the small ツ or つ represents any kind of forced stop, at the end of a word or sentence, as Tsuba said, and also within a word. When we write Ja...

Online/Electronic Manga Self-Publishing
Hey all, your friendly neighborhood EG raw provider here. I recently got a new girlfriend who is a really talented manga artist, but due to financial reasons never ended up using her talent. We both have full time jobs, but I was thinking it would be loads of fun to make a comic/graphic novel togeth...
Re: ::GANTZ::
I was just in the konbini and I flipped through a manga and saw Gantz. Hadn't read in a while, but shit was falling from the sky in a sweet 2pg spread! Is that the latest chapter you read? Insanity! I'm guessing we haven't gotten any more answers since I stoped reading? (They were with the kansai te...
Re: Golgo 13
I still have the english NES cartridge "Goglo 13." Pretty sick spy game for the NES, music was awesome but the story didn't really make any sense when I was, like, 10.
Btw, sweet water level. Sniper level was shit though, I had no idea how to control that shit.

Re: ::GANTZ::
Well, speaking from my couple weeks of experience thus far, I would definitely say that the Japanese make a much bigger deal of boobs than we do in the west (at least here in Tokyo). You really get the impression of "loving what you can't have" here, since the vast majority of Japanese gir...

Re: The art of translation?
I usually use this online kanji lookup and this online dictionary for my simple needs. But being able to just draw the kanji sounds awesome, instead of typing in some strange SKIP code or number of strokes to look it up. Here's a great online Kanji dictionary that I still use when I want to lookup ...

Re: The art of translation?
Hey Aether, Well, I can only speak from my own limited experience, but I've been translating for a few months now--maybe I'm not supposed to talk about the project I'm working on, so I won't say more, is it a secret release? Who knows, I'm just a lowly translator. But anyway, I'm mother tongue Engli...

I await them with relish since I haven't actually finished the volume myself yet (reading in Japanese sure is brain-taxing).

Re: The one and only Xbox 360 thread
It sure is weird how politicians think they can control the way a society thinks through censorship. What I think is funny is that it normally works in the opposite direction. Suppression and repression lead to people wanting something more, just like sexual suppression leads to obsessive behavior a...

COD4/Mass Effect/Orange Box: All awesome games that I recently finished. I highly recommend them (though COD4 is a bit short, the arcade mode you can unlock is priceless ). I bought Rock Band when it first came out and playing it in my college dorm with friends is a total blast! It's definitely wort...

Lunar: Silver Star Story COMPLETE
Finally found a seeded copy of it on bittorrent! Praise the gaming gods, I've been looking for this game for the past 5 years! (Still, Lunar 2 seems to be better so far, especially in terms of graphics... Oh well!)

I always thought the coolest DBZ attack (besides Majin Vegetas suicide bomb) was Tenshin-han's Neo-Tribeam. Especially when he held Cell in a cell (pardon the pun) by attacking him with it through an entire episode. Ya, I vaguely remember that. How was he able to do that? Was it something inherent ...

No, even being a Super-Saiyan isn't good enough. Nor is Super-Saiyan 2, 3, or even 4. What you want is an SSJ4 Golden Oozaru Bebi Vegeta... Ya, now that's power.Starnum wrote:...isn't that good enough?

Zetman vol.8 tank
So I read that EG is waiting for some high quality scans of Zetman vol 8 before making a release. Well, I'm probably going to get my hands on it relatively soon since I wanna see what happens and I need to practice my Japanese (all comes down to a possible road trip to NYC next saturday and stop int...

Re: What lies in your console as we speak?
Ya, Shadow of the Colossus really elevated gaming into an art form. You're right, I would definitely say the atmosphere was one of the most compelling things about that game. Everything from the vast, uninhabited lands you traversed to, to the epic nature of the battles: no game ever made me feel so...

Funny, my name originated from the bowels of Rifts (sci-fi version of D&D). ;) Get the hell out! I figured your name meant: pound-force per square inch - 29 atmospheres, a clever allusion to Leviticus -- Units of atmospheres referring to Leviticus, meaning "of the Levites," to whom ci...

Re: What lies in your console as we speak?
Damn, Aether, sounds like you guys are gettin' the raw deal. And I guess importing (from the states or Japan), even with a mod chip, must be a bitch since Europe has that whole PAL format. I know my PS2 modchip sometimes screws up the color/aspect ratio when I try to play PAL games. Not kewl. There'...

Wow, that's just about the worst thing I've ever heard... How many hikikomori killed themselves after watching that? The last chapter was so damn good in the manga. [spoiler]First they decide they love each other, then they throw that away as superficial; not wanting to be alone is different from lo...
