Maybe if you were/are an alcoholic...

Thanks for the chapter EG! Eldo, your sacrifice was not in vain!

Re: Newbie Berserk Discussion Thread

I always saw the huge brand of sacrifice appearing in the campfires as symbolising the fact that the "old world" was being sacrificed to give birth to the "new world" created by the Behelit Apostle. As he states at one point that what he chose to sacrifice was "the world.&qu...

This is really an ideal point to return to Gutts & co. That last double-page spread sets up everytihng that needs to be set up, it's highly symbolic and works well as a 'section end' from a story perspective. If it doesn't cut back to Gutts then I can't see a better way of ending the current 'Gr...

I tihnk it's safe to say that the axe was earth based, but Guts left it behind and we can assume it burned in the Spirit Tree... or is at least lying in the ashes.

Well, in teh oriignal Platonic philosophy there was onyl an Idea of Good, so I see no reaosn why there shouldn;t be just an Idea of Evil in Berserk. 'Good' would therefore be distance from the Idea, whereas 'Evil' would be closeness to it (e.g. the Godhand, Apostles, etc.), very liek the original ph...

Well if you go by the cover of Volume 12 rather than the anime then he was actually dark blue.

I think that quote is a ... missquotation (is that even a word?) of Neizsche... "He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster. And if you gaze for long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you.". That's pretty apropriate for Berserk, I might add... I th...

Hmmm, I would have thought that, after prolonged exposure to Berserk, withrawal would result in bloody carnage and high death-count. Oh, it does. But that's part of the "get steadily more and more insane" part, and comes before the descent into terminal madness. At that stage, you can sti...

It's in Volume 2, near the end. Can't remember the exact chapter though. The description was just so vague Kubo couldn't just leave it at that... well... he might.

Well you see Hell really early on in the manga - well, it's gates. So it does exist, and it doesn't seem to be HM. You're right about the lack of Heaven though - SS it is not.

That *was* sarcasm you understand.

Personally I think Bleach will have Three major arcs, of which it is currently in the second. Volumes 1-6 were kind of liek a prelude, SS arc was arc 1, the new arc is arc 2. The third arc will probably be in Hell or something.

Next Chapter: The End

Orihime attempts to will the Hougyoku out of existence, this sets off a chain reaction that causes the apocalypse. Bleach ends as the entire universe is willed out of existence.

Well I guess it'd be an end if Kubo got bored with it.

That bit was more a kind of teaser, to remind us of this ominous figure who'd shown up like 6 vols before or so, and tell us a bit of information about him without really telling us anything at all.

Well it'll all turn out to be a part of Aizen's master plan, and we all kinda know that. I mean, if there's going to be some dramatic plot revelations iand changes t seems a bit early in the arc. IF Inoue can pull it off, then no doubt Aizen intended for her to all along anyway - maybe it'll be like...

The thing is, Void still refers to "The God Born of Man" in the manga, and we still SEE Idea anyway (He appears right at the end of God of the Abyss 1). Idea is explaining things to Griffith throughout the chapter, and then at the end our favourite White Hawk makes the enigmatic statement ...

Well if he isn't having nekkid orgies, killing randoms, or, indeed, fishing, I suspect Miura may be trying to work out *exactly* how he wants the upcoming battle to be depicted. I mean, it's fairly certain that griffith will defeat the Kushan's, but the how is what really matters here. This is a key...

In case you guys don't know, the cover of volume 31 of Berserk has a face shot of Guts in his in-control-of-Berserker-armour look. Which looks a bit like Batman or Midnighter. Sorry I can't link it, but I temporarily have slow nets. Just checked it out. He looks like batman anyway in the manga (me ...

I'm glad someone else picked that up - I wondered if it was just me. The backgrounds and general art is fantastic, but the charcaters' facial designs seem somewhat.... lacking.

That said, I'm enjoying it thus far.

From what I recall, in the scene where the Dhaka are created, Rakshas says "if you throw a pregnant woman in there teh child recieves a demonic spirit." I fail to see why this is or should be any different from 'implanting spirits' in other animals, as they seems to essentially mean exactl...

I wouldn't call it cowardly. he was a man who had nothing - had never had anything. he saw that the world was evil and full of hate and wanted to create a 'perfect' world. For someone who was nothing, he wanted his death - his existence - to have a purpose. Isn't that what everyone wants? No-one wan...

Generally, when Gatts defeats an apostle, it means they've been slain. You think it'll be like this with Zodd? I think it's likely - Guts and Zodd will have their death-match, Guts will win, Zodd will die. Admittedly, I don't tihnk it'll happen until right near the end of the series, or at least th...
