I think a character missing his arm can use the word groovy without people automaticaly seeing it as a «ripoff» of Evil Dead. more to the point, they both said it when they received said mechanical arm. I was unaware of Miura's fondness of the evil dead series (he certainly has good taste), and it ...

Yep that's the line. I think its out of line in the sense that Guts doesn't seem like the type to say 'groovy' it mimics an early scene in Army Of Darkness (the third Evil Dead Movie, hence why the two are being used interchangably) I found a youtube clip of the Army of Darkness scene: http://www.yo...

For once, I actually got the book shipped to me on time. I have to say that the dialogue was a bit more humourous than the hawks scan.

One line I'm still torn on is one where Guts gets his new hand. It's a very corny line, yet a clear evil dead reference. I'm torn between admiration and disgust.

I've been toying with the idea of getting an art of war statue off ebay if I can get a good deal, but I want to make sure I don't get some cheap knockoff. With anime DVDs, the bootlegs are low disc count and have chinese subtitles - thye're easy to sopt. What should I be looking for in one of these ...

Well, its sad to see no one bring up the Berserk AMV I made a while ago - it means no one cared for it :/ It was to Queen's "The Show Must Go On" http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members/members_videoinfo.php?v=31431 if anyone wants to see it. This thread is bringing back a lot of memories,...

That's a really goot point about Gambino. I never thought of it like that, but it makes too much damn sense.

While Guts has always been a tad on the, shall we say, violent side, The beast only started forming when he pushed himself to ignore his humanity to become "a monster in order to fight monsters" The Beast was truly made a part of him because the brand has connected him to the astral realm.

I really got no problem with this resolution. Anywho, I can't give you the translation at the moment - that volume is on another computer. But I pretty much agree with what you said, MrFelony. I also remember that Serpico ( think it was him) commenting that Guts had lost weight. I'm guessing it's no...

aw, but I'd so much rather remain a mystery man :D Anywho, maybe I'm blind, but I didn't notice any topics devoted to it. I'm asking in part to hypothesize the future, and to make sure I'm understanding the situation right. To rephrase and perhaps simplify a question: to what extent did the wound Sl...

The demon/beast is always within Guts, he's fighting with it all the time. It consists of his inner feelings like anger etc. If you are wearing the berserker armor your brain and senses are "offline" and the emotions take all over and so release the inner demon. We don't know if it always...

The Berserker Armor and the Beast

rereading the later chapters of the manga, I'm a bit confused about something. While its quite obvious that the armor and the beast are linked, there is something I'm not sure about. Is the reason the Beast took over the armor because of the wound Slann gave him? Schierke noticed the ethereal wound,...
