Credit corrections for NHK chapter 37

  » Posted June 29th, 2007 by Eldo

I am saddened to announce that I have, uh, fucked up. When I placed the credits for chapter 37, I gave the incorrect credits for the translator. The entire translation for that chapter was by Nomimono, and not Elliot E. as shown. It’s sad that Nomimono’s hard and high quality work wasn’t recognised because of my uh, fucking screwup. I just want to say sorry to Nomimono for this gigantic screwup, it was incredibly careless of me. Hopefully, it would not happen again. I’m a giant idiot.

But my screwup aside, releases may come in around this weekend or the next. More NHK, Angel Heart, and finally Biomega! I’ll be careful with the credits next time. I do believe in credits where it’s due, so I feel really bad about this.

EDIT: Incredible. I spelled the guy’s name wrong as well. I should be shot.

Releases coming soon, and here’s a status report.

  » Posted May 19th, 2007 by Eldo

Sorry about the inactivity, guys. I know you haven’t heard from us, but we’ve been working behind the scenes. We’ll try to release a batch of Zetman and Angel Heart next week. Unfortunately, NHK and Biomega will have to wait, since exam period is nearing on us, and we haven’t studied yet because we’ve either been lazy/editing manga/reading about people editing manga/reading a manga about editing. As for NHK, we could really use an editor and a Japanese translator for some chapters. It would really help speed the releases up if we had some help with this. Please contact me (Eldo) if you think you think you could help out. However, it should be noted that NHK is pretty hard to translate, and is incredibly hard to edit, so an incredible amount of determination and dedication is needed.

Also, thank you all for offering to help us find the raws for Breaction. We already had them shortly after the last post was made, and I guess I was too lazy to edit it. We’ll going to work on that as soon as we’re done with the other stuff. It’s so great of the community to get involved, and I thank you all for your kind comments on this page and the emails.

Forums has moved: change your bookmarks. And farewell to thee, Albator.

  » Posted December 3rd, 2006 by Eldo

The EG forums has been moved to a new address – http://www.evil-genius.us/forums/. Change your bookmarks accordingly. There has been some scare amongst users that the forum is either down or disappeared, and this is not the case; the web address has merely been changed. EG is still generously hosted by Mindwerks; by our beloved psi29a, the ninja adminstrator. The reason for this change is that both Mindwerks and EG are heading through different divergent paths. Mindwerks is going to expand in its own way, differently from the Evil Genius scanlation group. It is essential that this ‘separation’ occurs to ensure continual growth for both parties involved, as we reach our own different, unrelated paths and interests. I’ll digress, the EG forums is still continually hosted by Mindwerks, with no change in content made. It is essentially the same forum, and only very minor changes in its navigation has changed to better suit the forum and EG.

I am saddened to announce that one of our members, Albator, beloved editor of NHK and translator of Angel Heart, will be leaving the group due to real life responsibilities, and will only be active until the end of this year. He is certainly one of the tanks of the group, and we will miss him dearly. Unfortunately, his real life responsibilities leave him little spare time to be involved in scanlation, so we at EG wish him the best of luck with this. It is always sad to wave farewell to one of our members, especially to one of Albator’s calibre. We will bid him farewell in style by the only way we can (no, not with money or a party, that’s crazy talk, out of the question!): by making manga releases. Stay tuned for that. We bid you farewell, Albator, and salute you for your work.

That being said, there will be no Christmas release. I’m atheist, same with a couple of members, and someone is Jewish I think, and French. We’re basically all religion-less deviants, although some of us do believe the Easter Bunny does exist, but not as a god or deity that demands worship. But hey, we’re all hypocrites, so we’ll taking a break during Christmas.

Happy holidays regardless from EG.

PS: No Berserk yet, probably not until next year, methinks. I doubt a Christmas miracle.

Projects Status (and yes, also about Berserk)

  » Posted October 25th, 2006 by Eldo

First of all, I would like to say that I’m growing increasingly tired of answering the main question that has plagueing everyone’s minds: The release date of Berserk. The purpose of this newspost is to address this, and also, to make you all shut the hell up. I understand that since EG scanlates Berserk, some people think that we are undisputed experts on the subject, ranging from storywise to its publishing in Japan. I also understand some of you can’t read, as the release date issue has been discussed in previous newsposts, which also makes this newspost moot, but I love ranting anyway.

How we obtain the release dates for the next chapter of Berserk is in the same way as you do, by checking the bottom of the last page of the chapter. If it doesn’t say anything, in this case, like last chapter’s, then we don’t know either, and it’s pointless to ask us. We do not with hold any information regarding this, and we have no reason to. The second option we use to check for next chapter release is from Young Animal’s website. They have a chapter listing of manga titles that are to be printed in the issues. Unfortunately, it does not show future release dates about a particular manga. It only shows the chapter listing of manga titles in the magazine that is on sale currently, and also a preview of the chapter listing on the next release. That means, there are only 2 chapter listings on the website at one time, only that of the current Young Animal magazine that is on sale now, and next issue. The website does not stretch anything beyond that. We have checked the chapter listings, and Berserk is not there. However, the next issue of Young Animal magazine is released on the 27th of this month, a couple of days away, so we can check if Berserk is to be released in the issue after the 27th release from Young Animal website update. I will update this page if I am imparted with any new information regarding its publication status in Japan.

It’s a mistake to think that since EG is responsible to scanlate Berserk, that we are able to obtain any insider information. That is incorrect, we are receive as much information as you guys do. If the end of chapter doesn’t show the release date, we don’t know either. And no, we won’t guess and put a random date down, because if we are wrong, there will be a mob with burning torches and pitchforks camped outside our door. For now, please be patient, and do not ask for release dates. I’m sick and tired of answering them or even seeing the question at all. We do not work for you, and are not obligated to provide an answer or release the chapter at that particular time. Understand that we all have lives outside of EG, and is not a job for us, it is a hobby. Again, please be patient, and I will update the website once I get any information about it.

As for other projects, such as NHK, Biomega, Angel Heart, Zetman…they are moving along. Breaction is done, and awaiting QC stage. They will be released soon. And also, we need Japanese translators. If you’re interested, send me an email or PM in the forums. Your contribution is related to the rate at which the releases are made. And people will love you for it.

EDIT: Berserk will not be in the next issue of Young Animal either, to be released on the 10th of November. Sigh, we’ll just have to wait a bit longer. I hope Miura is enjoying his holiday and is not getting any death threats.

– Eldo.
