This chapter actually stole a little of my attention away from guts and company. I was getting tired of Griffiths undefeated bore fest. It’s like, “yea yea, you’re the greatest.”
But I don’t even think Griffith has a chance against that thing…….or does he?

How will Griffith battle with the emperor ? Will he do something like him and take some lives to transform himself into a giant hawk ?
I mean, even if Griffith win the war, how will the apostles live together with humans ? It would be a nice way to take care of it if Griffith absorbs them to fight the emperor.

haven’t really thought about it before but….I really think that Serpico is the guy who, if he puts his mind to it, is the only one who can defeat guts. Even at the very beginning he knew how to defeat him, but he only ever dueled him one on one.

Well considering the circumstance and setting for each fight, Serpico using his wits/mind was the only reason the encounters were ever close to begin with.
Anyway, no matter how you look at it, Guts could be defeated by any number of adversaries (much more imposing than a legion of Serpico’s)…..Griffith, apostles like Zodd, Grumbeld, etc

no way serpico could ever defeat guts, even putting his mind into it, like InterRage said. He only had chances cause guts is honest about that sword-to-sword thing and serpico was able to arrange the battlefield before. AND fighting seriuously (like guts said he was doing) is completely different from fighting desperatly – and that’s when we see our guts really fighting

adding to what Prince said- during their first fight Serpico himself admitted that he wouldn’t stand a chance against Guts in open combat.
As for fighting against stronger apostles:
Guts was able to take on Zodd before obtaining the armor.
Using his armor he was capable of tackling a large group of lesser apostles and fighting Grunbeld afterward.
But come to think of it – he is still more or less a human so if he lets his guard down he can be killed even by a wimp like Manifico.
p.s. I’m sure that he still stands no chance against any of the god hand – he still can only cause physical damage while their true forms reside in the astral world.

The Dragon Slayer, having slain so many demons and monsters, has been imbued (over time) with the ability to touch(kill)those outside the human realm….EX.) Impaling Diaba’s forehead.
Not to mention, being branded (as explained by the SK) has Guts existing and interacting with both the human and demon realms (eg. interstice). Although this is why demons continue to haunt/hunt the branded, it allows the branded to engage the and hunt the supernatural as well.
Also the more fucked the human world has become post-eclipse (fantasy storyline) vs. pre-eclipse (less fantasy, more historical based storyline….low incidence of supernatural events), the more it indicates the merger between layers of reality…..”Hell on earth” perhaps?

….Sorry, I should have read this post more closely. The God-Hand are so deep down in layers, unless Guts is transported to Hell or is within an eclipse, I’m sure the GH are off limits to Guts. But this works both ways.

I think that sooner or later Guts is going to suffer again. Because so far he ended getting stronger only by taking massive amount fo dammage. If we say that Griffith is going so slay the Emperor, imagine Guts vs the Emperor and then Guts vs Griffith.
Also I think that one of the best parts of this manga is that guts is still a human. He shows that no matter what, you can stand against things much greater than you and win. And if Guts became stronger by transforming in some kind of superhuman-apostle-ninja the manga is going to lose one of the best sides that it has.

i agree with Gosho. The fact that Guts still remains human after all these hellish year n struggle makes him much more respectable. I admire his zeal n endurance

I have an awesome, sneaking feeling that Griffith’s army is going to get massacred in an epic, long battle. After the dust settles, Griffith is alone, wounded, and able to be slain because he achieved his kingdom– the one goal that made him immortal. Guts will possibly go back to Midland after Caska is healed, and given the possibility to dish out some sweet comeuppance.

I don’t know if someone already mentioned it before, but I wanted to say thanks guys for the 2 last Artworks! They surely suit events better than the ones with the Band, don’t you think so
As for the outcome of this battle, I have a feeling that Griffith will at last show the extent of his might as a God! I mean, everybody knows that tremendously powerful but honestly no one has an idea about what he’s capable of… Is it Magical power? Is it godly sword fighting? what is it??
Anyway, I think the answer will come within the next chapter… So yay!!

Actually Guts stands a chance aginst his foes when allied with his friends. I mean, imagine Serpico planned a battlefield fit for Guts to give him as much adventage as possible and also remember nobody said he has to fight Griffith 1 on 1. There is a lot of people who could help him in battle like that : Skull Knight, Serpico, the witch girl, perhaps Roderick and others who still have potential to develop. To be honest I’d be surprised if Guts will ever stand a chance to beat God’s Hand members 1 on 1.

Ok lets see thing from a different angle. Lets say that everything in the manga has its own purpose. Why Miura will create something without a purpose?
Astenan says “There is a lot of people who could help him in battle like that : Skull Knight, Serpico, the witch girl, perhaps Roderick and others who still have potential to develop.”
Then the question will be: Whai is the purpose of the Skull Knight? And the answer is: he is going somehow to appear in the story and move it in some direction.
The point is that there are too many undeveloped characters in the story to have an idea what will happen. So a 1 on 1 battle between Guts and Griffith is a possibility, but don’t forget that in teh beginning it was the life ot guts, then the main point move from Guts life to the collision between good and evil. Who knows where the story is doing to? Guts vs Griffith might be a minor storyline at the end.
One thing os for shure, Miura has proven his capability to turn the storyline in unexpected ways. It is going to be an exiting ride…. if we live to see the end.
ps. TheOwner, I still think that Guts is going to suffer onse again, but who sad that he is going to lose his other hand or eye? This time it’s going to be psyhological.

I tend to agree with gosho it is going to be a psychological scar that guts is going to suffer. Remember that SK said that Caska might not want what guts wants. In essence it is warning guts imo atleast that if caska remembers everything she may start to seriously hate guts, Not the kiddy kiddy hate in the while guts was fighting alongside griffith.

I tend to believe that one on one guts now has the power to defeat zodd (whom i believe to be the strongest of the apostles under griffith’s command) he could stand toe to toe (its a slight exaggeration at the most) before getting the berserker armor. God hands however a different thing altogether which are most definitely above and beyond guts at this time….. or maybe not. I believe that berserk has toooooo many underdeveloped characters for it to even approach its end with a km long stick.
But heres hoping ganishka kicks pretty boy’s ass (although it wont happen of course

I don’t know, just the thought of Zetman being a main figure is too weird. He doesn’t artistically have any qualities benefiting an anime main character. I know that’s shallow, but eye candy is definitely important to me, unless the story is so amazing, it can captivate me within the first chapter. If I didn’t care about drawing styles, I’d read a novel =P
Angel heart has a lot of talking for the scenario it’s set up for. And the drawing again is like T_T old school zzzzz.
Breaction ending soon is kinda strange, but I can see it happening. UxU I found is much more complete =) and is quite similar but is an entirely different topic.
In the end, Berserk is king of Evil Genius. But GOD HOW DOES HE GET AWAY WITH ALL THESE BREAKS? T_T I can’t imagine him making enough money to get off the hook every time.
It seems all those like slice n dice ppl can easily die mangas like berzerk/vinland/gantz is never a weekly, it’s also never gonna be a consistent bi-weekly, but some long ass break month crap T_T and though I understand, makes me sad. Oh well, here’s to either some crazy badass looking fairy king, or a GIGANTIC VERSION OF CHIBI PUCK.

Well, that’s personal taste. I think the story is it worth to read on and pictures are not everything, not even important, without the story. And the character of Jin isn’t flashy like most of the “anime main characters” but still very interesting.
So if you want splatter join your local army or play Mortal Kombat xD

Oh man, will this manga ever end? It seems like moving further away from resolution with every damn chapter. And the general direction and feel to it has changed more than 10 other mangas combined. I love the artwork but the story.. I just dont know anymore

this is going to be epic. i can’t believe that i’m going away on the 23 and 24 so i won’t be able to see it. ><. this blows off my plans of sitting hours upon hours staring at my computer waiting for it to come out. but i guess it does take a day or two to translate so i might not miss much.
