Well, as we wind down to 2006, I must say it has been an interestingly year. Can you believe that the forum has been around for almost 4 years already?
This speaks similarly for EG which Oro founded almost 5 years ago (2002). While he has moved on to more and better things, EG has lasted with new blood and I’m proud to say that we look forward for another 5 years.
There are very few Manga translating groups that have lasted as long. We have out lived Godshand when they tried to translate 3 chapters of Berserk, we have out lived Yakuza, and have also picked up where several other groups have stopped and disappeared.
We have gone from speed scanlators with dodgy translations to a quality minded group with excellent translations thanks to Wandering_Mystic, Nomimono, Eldo, LordMune, Albator, Starnum, uyauya, and Vicissitude.
While the list above is not everyone who is part of EG, these guys have shown a level of commitment and dedication to a hobby and passion that few in community have. So if you see ‘em around, give ‘em thanks.
In the mean time, have a great New Year and as always, we can’t wait for the 12th of January! — psi29a

It was just brought to my attention that 280 will be released on January 12 of 2007. You can find out more at the official Berserk page hosted by YoungAnimal.
As I said in the previous post, EG will all over it faster than Eldo on your Mom.

Well, we are coming down to the final days of 2006 and what can we say? Berserk technically is stuck at 279 and still no news from Miura as to when it will be picked back up. However, soon as we hear word and see the next raw we will be all over it like white on rice. Our other projects are moving along but of course most of EG has gone into hibernation for Decemeber but the new year should bring us back on task.
Also, we are looking for talented people to redesign EG’s site now that we have consolidated the forums and tracker on the EG name. I (psi29a) can do it, but it will take awhile and I’m programmer by profession and not designer. So, feel free to contact us if you would like to help out. You will get props, link to your name/site/profession and if you want a place among EG.
In the mean time, here is some fan art, omanga, and more that has come out of the forums and other neat things we have found.
Until next time! *grin* — psi29a

The EG forums has been moved to a new address – http://www.evil-genius.us/forums/. Change your bookmarks accordingly. There has been some scare amongst users that the forum is either down or disappeared, and this is not the case; the web address has merely been changed. EG is still generously hosted by Mindwerks; by our beloved psi29a, the ninja adminstrator. The reason for this change is that both Mindwerks and EG are heading through different divergent paths. Mindwerks is going to expand in its own way, differently from the Evil Genius scanlation group. It is essential that this ‘separation’ occurs to ensure continual growth for both parties involved, as we reach our own different, unrelated paths and interests. I’ll digress, the EG forums is still continually hosted by Mindwerks, with no change in content made. It is essentially the same forum, and only very minor changes in its navigation has changed to better suit the forum and EG.
I am saddened to announce that one of our members, Albator, beloved editor of NHK and translator of Angel Heart, will be leaving the group due to real life responsibilities, and will only be active until the end of this year. He is certainly one of the tanks of the group, and we will miss him dearly. Unfortunately, his real life responsibilities leave him little spare time to be involved in scanlation, so we at EG wish him the best of luck with this. It is always sad to wave farewell to one of our members, especially to one of Albator’s calibre. We will bid him farewell in style by the only way we can (no, not with money or a party, that’s crazy talk, out of the question!): by making manga releases. Stay tuned for that. We bid you farewell, Albator, and salute you for your work.
That being said, there will be no Christmas release. I’m atheist, same with a couple of members, and someone is Jewish I think, and French. We’re basically all religion-less deviants, although some of us do believe the Easter Bunny does exist, but not as a god or deity that demands worship. But hey, we’re all hypocrites, so we’ll taking a break during Christmas.
Happy holidays regardless from EG.
PS: No Berserk yet, probably not until next year, methinks. I doubt a Christmas miracle.

Yes, you heard right… B.Reaction, chapters 4 through 8. This a retranslated, re-edited version of 4 with 5,6,7, and 8 being brought into the lime light so enjoy! We also have more Zetman, NHK, and certainly last but not least, Biomega!
Have a great weekend everyone and look forward to more goodness soon.

So, while we wait for more berserk, EG is going to show off some of the community’s contributions. Feel free to join us here in the forum. If you like what you see, some words of encouragement will go a long way into seeing more fan art/coloring.

Yet another week, and no berserk updates in site. Sorry guys. However, in the interim, here is some Angel Heart, NHK, and Zetman!
A heads up on the NHK, we had in the past marked the volumes incorrectly. The volume convention has been fixed, we are up on volume 7 now, same chapters however. Chapters per volume is shorter than most mangas, so many apologies to you all. I’ll fix those in the tracker, however the files/torrents will remain the same.
Also more great news, please welcome Nomimono, EG’s latest translator to join the team. He hails from Munich and loves Berserk. His first trial by fire was Biomega, so look forward to a release of that in the near future as well. What can we say, its Full Speed Ahead!

First of all, I would like to say that I’m growing increasingly tired of answering the main question that has plagueing everyone’s minds: The release date of Berserk. The purpose of this newspost is to address this, and also, to make you all shut the hell up. I understand that since EG scanlates Berserk, some people think that we are undisputed experts on the subject, ranging from storywise to its publishing in Japan. I also understand some of you can’t read, as the release date issue has been discussed in previous newsposts, which also makes this newspost moot, but I love ranting anyway.
How we obtain the release dates for the next chapter of Berserk is in the same way as you do, by checking the bottom of the last page of the chapter. If it doesn’t say anything, in this case, like last chapter’s, then we don’t know either, and it’s pointless to ask us. We do not with hold any information regarding this, and we have no reason to. The second option we use to check for next chapter release is from Young Animal’s website. They have a chapter listing of manga titles that are to be printed in the issues. Unfortunately, it does not show future release dates about a particular manga. It only shows the chapter listing of manga titles in the magazine that is on sale currently, and also a preview of the chapter listing on the next release. That means, there are only 2 chapter listings on the website at one time, only that of the current Young Animal magazine that is on sale now, and next issue. The website does not stretch anything beyond that. We have checked the chapter listings, and Berserk is not there. However, the next issue of Young Animal magazine is released on the 27th of this month, a couple of days away, so we can check if Berserk is to be released in the issue after the 27th release from Young Animal website update. I will update this page if I am imparted with any new information regarding its publication status in Japan.
It’s a mistake to think that since EG is responsible to scanlate Berserk, that we are able to obtain any insider information. That is incorrect, we are receive as much information as you guys do. If the end of chapter doesn’t show the release date, we don’t know either. And no, we won’t guess and put a random date down, because if we are wrong, there will be a mob with burning torches and pitchforks camped outside our door. For now, please be patient, and do not ask for release dates. I’m sick and tired of answering them or even seeing the question at all. We do not work for you, and are not obligated to provide an answer or release the chapter at that particular time. Understand that we all have lives outside of EG, and is not a job for us, it is a hobby. Again, please be patient, and I will update the website once I get any information about it.
As for other projects, such as NHK, Biomega, Angel Heart, Zetman…they are moving along. Breaction is done, and awaiting QC stage. They will be released soon. And also, we need Japanese translators. If you’re interested, send me an email or PM in the forums. Your contribution is related to the rate at which the releases are made. And people will love you for it.
EDIT: Berserk will not be in the next issue of Young Animal either, to be released on the 10th of November. Sigh, we’ll just have to wait a bit longer. I hope Miura is enjoying his holiday and is not getting any death threats.

We have 5 chapters of goodness for you all, so without wasting any more time…
Note: NHK has a typo, it claims to be v4, but is actually v5. Don’t let that through you guys off. That was our mistake.
So you all may be wondering where Berserk 280 , NHK 28, and BReaction is. Well, Berserk is unknown as the next YA issue will not have it, so we will have to wait another month to find out if it is coming. NHK 28 is cleaned, awaiting translation. BReaction is coming along, yes we have claimed that is ‘coming soon’. Turns out we didn’t like the translations we had and want to spend an extra week cleaning it up. So we are shooting for next weekend with more Zetman, BR, and hopefully NHK.
We at EG say thank you for putting up with our delays. It just really can’t be helped, it is a hobby for us after all. It would be great if people who have the know how to step up and help us out. We always have room for translators, even if it is just to proof work. You don’t have to go at it alone, our team likes to put several heads on a project.

Just wanted to let you all know that we are not dead… yet. We are moving forward for a non-Berserk related release this weekend. The problem and the hold of course is Berserk, since that is primary mover and shaker in terms of release schedules but something more ominious has happened.
Our very own Wandering_Mystic had taken ill a week ago and has been recovering ever since. He is a dedicated trooper though and even through pain-killers he is a translating machine. I encourage those who comment here on the blog to wish him a speedy and pain-less recovery.
It has also come to our attention that 4chan (an established and respected community) has released chapter 27 of NHK. By all means, go read it. However, we do plan on releasing our translation this weekend along with a slew of others. Here is the lineup.
Biomega may or may not make it into our release this weekend, keep your fingers and toes crossed.
Still no word on Berserk, sorry gang. Will have to wait till next YA update on the up-coming issues.

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up as to what EG has and has not been up to, so I’ll list ‘em below.
So, there you all have it. Also, if you all see dead links on blog posts, yes those links are dead and will continue to be dead. Please visit the bit-torrent tracker which you see on the right hand side which has all the latest torrents. We shuffle or chapters into volumes for easier releases and downloads. We have so many posts that isn’t worth our time to change ‘em.
